Recording And Playing In HDMI

hello my name is jack

im looking to play with my monintor in hdmi ive come up with a plan but im not sure if it will work due to the annoying thing called HDCP

now heres the plan

http://www.projectiondreams.com/htmlpages/movie%20magic/MOVIEMAGIC_HDMI_COMPONENT_R_L_AUDIO.html

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/HDMI-TO-COMPONENT-R-L-AUDIO-CONVERTER_W0QQitemZ190341334675QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Computing_CablesConnectors_RL?hash=item2c513a4693

Now i will get a picture for the monitor from the splitter but the problem is im not sure if it will give a picture for the hd recorder

so the box is a hdmi to component, now HDMI has HDCP and component doesnt ? right? or wil this box not ask for a handshake? i dont know or will it just work?

the only other way is to buy the hdfury 2 but its expensive and i dont want to pay that price really just to record a game -_-

that product strips the hdcp...

Welcome to the Forum, Jack!

Can you please try again?  I have no idea what it is you’re trying to accomplish, and your Imageshack picture didn’t make any sense.  What kind of HD recorder are we talking about?  What is it recording from?

I too couldn't discern exactly what the OP wishes to do, but if this is any indication, it's probably against the HTF rules.

Wayne:

IANJ, but I think I know what he's driving at wth his image file:

HDMI out from Wii to HDMI splitter

"Left" output of splitter goes to the TV.  The coiled HDMI cable that's just sitting out there with no arrows is meant to represent the connection between the splitter and the TV.

"Right" output from the HDMI output goes to a convertor that takes the HDMI video and ouputs it as component video.  Once again the "floating" HDMI cable is just there to indicate how the connection will be made, physically.

After that it gets a little fuzzier.  A component cable is being used to connect to another device that has multiple component jacks, but I can't tell if they're inputs, outputs or both, if I'm looking at the front or back of the thing or what it is exactly.  I'm guessing that it is an HD-DVR, HD-DVD recorder or something along those lines, since it is not shown connecting to anything else.

And I agree with Jeff.  This sounds and looks like an attempt to circumvent copy protection, which is stricly forbidden by forum rules.  But if it isn't, maybe Jack can tell me if my guesses are right, and provide a little more info so we can help him with any legitimate reult he might be looking for.
