Connecting Sub to Home Theater System

Hello,
I have this sub (http://www.fullcompass.com/product/249147.html?utm_source=Yahoo&utm_medium=ssp&utm_campaign=trld). I was wondering how I can hook this up to my receiver so I can have it hook up to be my sub for my home theater system.

Thanks for any help,

Brock

I looked up this sub on JBL's site. It's meant to be a Studio sub, not a home system sub.

Since it's 2 ohm, that will probably be a problem for HT receivers. Not sure though, since it's a powered sub. There's not even a connection on the back, to connect it with a home theater receiver.

If I were you, I'd be looking at these: http://www.svsound.com/products-sub-cyl.cfm
Of course they also have the box type subs, if you prefer those. The cylinder sub tends to make a smaller footprint, than the big box sub. Wives seem to like that better. HSU also makes a good sub, but I'm more familiar with SVS.
Good luck!

Are the ohms relevant given that the sub has a built-in amp?  I would think you would just need a cable that converts from an RCA plug (on your receiver) to either 1/4" or XLR for your sub.

With that said, for that kind of money I think you could get a better sub designed specifically for HT, such as the SVS subs Ed linked to.

The resistance of the driver doesn't matter on a powered sub that comes as a system.  The receiver's LFE output sees around 10,000 ohms to 30,000 ohms resistance of the sub amp's input.  If you are building your own sub  then you have to properly match the sub amp to the driver.
