Talking Heads "Stop Making Sense"

Wonderful concert Blu-ray. Not sure I'd rank it ahead of Police Certifiable (my favorite concert Blu-ray) and I'm trying not to let any bias towards Talking Heads influence my reaction but what a great sounding concert this is.

Video is actually pretty weak. Soft, lack of detail and full of print damage. Not visually appealing at all.

But the audio is spectacular. The instrument separation comes through brilliantly. Great example of this is "Slippery People" (track 5). I feel like I've heard "Burning Down the House" for the first time after years of hearing it in compressed form.
I also have to say that it is recorded at a perfect volume. A couple weeks ago, I listened to Rush Snakes and Arrows BD and it was just too darn loud. This one is just right.

Highly recommended!

I'm writing the review right now. It's a great disc.
Zoloft and Paxil and Buspar and Xanex, Depacon, Chronaphin, Ambien, Prozac,
Ativan calms me when I see the bills.

I'd be very interested in this one although I have never actually seen the movie yet -- only ever listened to the CD (for the movie), which is actually quite-to-very different from the original (non-movie) renditions.

I passed on the DVD because I heard bad things about the quality.  Hopefully, this will be much better -- and worth the purchase.

I'm curious, because I plan to look at the DVD before I finalize the Blu-ray review: What did you hear about the DVD that put you off?

Can't remember what it was now -- it was a long while back.  I guess it's very possible that the complaints were not entirely fair due to the available source material.  Since I've never actually seen the movie concert myself, I really don't have anything to go by for a reference.

FWIW, I'm not looking for a squeaky clean, modern HD look (a la Police: Certifiable).  Just want the film to be presented as it should be w/ its original look (in the best possible shape it ever was... so basically, just the "same as it ever was..." ).  Well, admittedly, I guess it would be rather disappointing if the PQ is utterly lacking in resolution and looks more like VHS video...

Thanks -- and looking forward to the review!

OK, I want it noted: That line was already in the review before this exchange. (Would any fan expect otherwise?  )

Haha...  Duely noted!   And thanks again for the quality review!

And oh, I should also thank Jason for this thread's opening comments/short review.  Hopefully, the various comments about the PQ will temper my expectations enough so that I can enjoy this concert film for what it is (and was originally intended to be)...

PS: Jason, I never looked too carefully at your new avatar for this new HTF format, but did think it looked familiar.   So will you be changing it to the Stop Making Sense cover now?
