This classic TV show will likely never see the light of day on DVD but Warner Archive is now making available the theatrical release produced at the end of the show's run with the entire TV cast.

You never know.

This was a Desilu show, so odds are CBS owns it. CBS has a decent record of putting older shows out there.

But it's probably really low on the totem pole.

According to the CBS Syndication bible, this show hasn't even had a set of video masters created from the film elements so much as once.   It's been out of syndication since the days when only 16mm prints were used, so that means any release on DVD would have to require an expensive undertaking.

A dirty shame- this is a 50s title worth rediscovering, likewise with December Bride.

Funny Charles,
I just watched on YOUTUBE, a "DECEMBER BRIDE" and "PETE AND GLADYS" clip.
They were great shows, I remember our local stations running them in the early 70s and late 60s.
Also, in the afternoon following was the "ANN SOTHERN" show alternating each week with "LOVE THAT BOB".  And what ever happened to "MAKE ROOM FOR DADDY" ?? They started with one season and did not do any more ??
What a shame !!!
Those  should be on a 50s  cable station.

If DVDs had been invented earlier, say in the early 1960s, we'd have had complete sets of "Our Miss Brooks," "My Little Margie," "I Married Joan," "December Bride," "Make Room for Daddy," "The Life of Riley," "Love That Bob," and others.  They're just too much ancient history now.

From the 1950s sitcoms, only "I Love Lucy" and "The Honeymooners" have maintained their popularity, although "Father Knows Best" has miraculously got three seasons out (and I'm hoping for the remaining three.)  Even "Leave It to Beaver," another great 1950s icon, couldn't get past two seasons.

Looks, like "DONNA REED" is doing OK.
What about "THE GOLDBERGS" ON DVD  ???

Regarding The Goldbergs, there's a shocking reason why the show isn't as a cultural touchstone as Honeymooners or Lucy.  There's only about a season of filmed shows and very few kinescopes. Apparently Gertrude Berg didn't believe in reruns, she told the networks to destroy the kinescopes after 90 days!  Considering that was rather the first sitcom in broadcasting to make it big after Amos n' Andy, it's a tragedy.

About 6 of the CBS episodes exist, 3 NBC ones, most of the Dumont ones (24 I believe exist) and all of the 39 syndicated ones. There may be something happening on this front at some point. Also there was a feature film version of the show in 1950 although I doubt that would be part of a DVD box set.
