RX-V563 Not Converting HD signal

I have a Yamaha RX-v563 and a Vizio 48 coming through a Time Warner HD Cable box.

Before I added the RX, my Vizio received 1080p signals no problem.  Now, it does not.  I have checked the signal output on the RX and it always says it is receiving a 720 signal and processing a 720 signal.

I have talked this through with Yamaha's so called support and nothing...

Any advice or do I have a bad unit?

BTW - another odd thing happens...My PS3 signal with come through on the start up screen as 1080p and then goes to 720 when the game starts...

Thanks!

Greetings,

What I would try is to temporarily run your video wires directly to the TV to SEE if you really have a difference in resolution, not just a numbers change on your TV.  The receiver, as I am sure you already suspect, shouldn't degrade the signal at all but may be showing the signal;s true colors (so to speak).

Now the bad news, all cable signals are sent in 720p at best because of bandwidth restrictions.  For the PS3 it would depend on the game.

Or 1080i.  Also, with DirecTV you can get some 1080p.

720P or 1080P it is reallt a matter of how close you are to the Tv and how big the set is.
