Great season opener.. I'm interested to see how he makes it as a teacher.. then again, I'm still holding out hope that at some point his "stolen book" comes back home...

Hank has the best daydreams.  Still can't believe the girl (Eva Amurri) from his daydreams was the same one in "Saved".

Hmm, I don't think that it was clear that the club scene was a daydream - was it?

Kathleen Turner is a riot in this too.

Until we find out there was an actual visit by Hank to the club previously, I view the scene as being Hank's daydream during the faculty meeting.

I actually LOL at the Reveal of Runkel when he leaned to his right when Marcy busted him.

Upon further review, perhaps Hank was reliving a recent memory, but the way he was going on and on about dancers felt like he was in daydream mode.

^^ They made a point in the previous episode of him specifically not going into the strip club to see her, so it's clearly a day dream. If it weren't they would have addressed it to some extent.

"Because he's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a DARK KNIGHT."

True but when has Hank ever done what he said he would.  Either way, dream or not, it was real enough to us viewers.  ;)

I thought it was clearly a daydream about something that hadn't happened. It was the Dean's wife's voice that brought him out of the daydream.  You can hear her saying "Hank?  Hank?" in a foggy sort of way while he's still dreaming in the club.  Then, when he is at the dinner party, the stripper/student/bartender catches him with the Dean's wife and says "If you played your cards right, you could have had someone much younger."  I suppose that line could make sense if he had walked into the club, but less so.  My take anyway.

Hank does lead a charmed life, doesn't he? I guess we'll find out: Can a man have too many women throw themselves at him all at one time.

Marcy, OTOH, that was groddy to the tampax.

I just read somewhere that the stripper girl is Eva Amurri , who happens to be Susan Sarandon's daughter. She sure is curvy!

I'm dying laughing at this show -- and just when you think you've heard it all, something you'd never expect.

[Big Screen TV shows young lady dancing in front of Green Door]

--Huh, Behind the Green Door is available on Blu-Ray.

-- Laser Disc.   The people who sold their laserdiscs were absolute a**holes, fools and a**holes.

[Big Screen TV goes blue]

-- Oh!    What??

-- Flip it.

--- Ah, flip it!   [Runkle pulls out a beautiful 12 inch silver disc]   Wow!  Okay.  [Flips it to the B side and young now nude young lady returns to the screen]

That LD flippage brought back some good memories.  Though, why didn't they have an auto-flipper LD player?  I guess the point would not have been made with such a model.  Anyhow, kudos, for sure.

From the looks of that TV setup and the professional level of the owner I was guessing it was either an LD-S2 or something like the X0 since only the best would be appropriate (talk about geek city).  I don't think there was ever a close enough view to even get an idea of the model, but it must have been something special that there was chance that an early 70's porno could have been mistaken for a HiDef BluRay.

Man I'm so pathetic that the whole show boiled down to a Laserdisc joke.

I admit, the only flipper LD I ever owned was a Pioneer S104, for a short while.. because unless I'm mistaken both my CLD-97 and CLD-99 flipped/read both sides of the disc on their own.  And I'm sorry, but there are some LDs I will never give up.  CAV copies of Disney stuff?  Yeah, tell me all about improved resolution.. it's still incredible stuff.

My LD's still number well into the 4 digits including I think all the Disney Boxsets.  They were absolute works of art even if you never even watch the discs themselves.

I see the person who was in Romancing the Stone and Jewel of the Nile and it's a bit difficult to watch Kathleen Turner on Californication. Aesthetics aside, though, she is playing the character well.

And I see the vixen who played in Body Heat (and I cringe a little seeing that) -- and aesthetics aside I agree with you conclusion.

I can't figure if she's doing a parody of Matty Walker/Joanna Crane, or trying to do a satire of am aging Jessica Rabbit, or making fun of Joan Wilder, but man she looks like she's having fun.   OTOH, I was absolutely shocked to see she was born in 1954 though she was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis in the mid 90's so I'm betting the disease and  her meds have had a major impact.

I just checked her film credits and her first 10 years were just amazing the great characters she played with about 6 of my favorite films of the 80's

Body Heat in 1981  (Hard to believe this was her debut film)
Romancing the Stone/Jewel of the Nile
Crimes of Passion
Prizzi's Honor
Peggy Sue Got Married (only Oscar nomination for Best Actress along with Sissy Spacek, Jane Fonda, Sigourney Weaver who all lost to Marlee Matlin)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit
War of the Roses in 1989

Even Julia and Julia was an impressive effort.

The Accidental Tourist got  some of the best reviews of the bunch, but is one of the films I could never enjoy.

She was considered for the Sharon Stone Basic Instinct role.

Right And Sharon Stone is only 4 years younger. Anyway, I suspected (and vaguely remembered) it was more than just meds. But the meds don't help. I think she is/was on steroids for her arthritis, and just about every woman I've come across that uses them says it makes you put on weight.

There's a nice article Ms. Turner  wrote that talks about some of what she's been through:
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/femail/article-509181/Kathleen-Turner-reveals-descent-alcoholism.html

Like the rest of us, she's human. She's been through a lot and despite what's happened on the outside, I have to celebrate her spirit. But I'd be lying by omission if I didn't acknowledge the aesthetic change is somewhat jarring for me.

As for that article, apparently it's an extract from a book. And thank goodness it's only an extract. If the whole book were online, I think I'd still be reading it.

OK, back to comedy.

I've been watching all season and I had no idea that was Kathleen Turner until reading it in this thread.

(I skip the opening credits, so if she's mentioned there I missed it).
