I have installed a new 55" Toshiba TV, Oppo DVD, and TiVo XL. At the advice I got from experts here, I kept my Yamaha EZ-C3000 to run my audio. Everything is working great, except the audio from the Tivo. I have HDMI from both the Oppo and the TiVo to the TV, analog outputs (5:1) from the Oppo to the Yamaha, and an optical cable from the TiVo to the Yamaha. The sound from the Oppo is wonderful, but I can't seem to get any sound from the TiVo to the speakers. I have the optical cable connected to the #6 optical port, but either that is not the correct one or there is some setting I have missed on the Yamaha. Help would be greatly appreciated.
A problem has occurred that may make this request moot. The Yamaha is unexpectedly shutting off intermittently. It can be turned back on immediately and then will work for some period of time and then shut off again. Since this unit is 9 years old, and I am having the above problem with its operation, it is a problem with which I really don't want to wrestle. So I am going to research a replacement unit (by reading the recs here).
BTW, I solved the original sound problem by playing with the "I/O redirect" on the optical channel and finally got the sound fixed. Consider this question concluded.
