Problem With Samsung DLP HL-R5667W TV - First Time

I had a problem turning on my DLP Samsung HL-R5667w TV for the first time since I acquired it in Nov. 2005 -- this evening when I tried to turn it on, it seemed to be starting up normally, but the green flashing light in the circle under the screen didn't ever resolve, and it ended up turning itself off.  I read the manual, and it suggested unplugging the TV for 30 seconds or thereabouts, then trying again, and that actually worked.  I had the TV hooked up by HDMI to Dish Network, and to my DVD player - they worked fine; but when I tried the AV1, AV2, or AV3 inputs, all I got was static and large vertical pink bars on the screen, making me believe the analog input circuits are shot on the TV??  Any input on this?   The lamp is working, as is the fan.... I've unplugged anything/everything from the analog video inputs....

Would be grateful for any input....!

circa 2005?
No idea on a resolution to your problem.
You may want to strongly consider replacement.
Lots of 1080p displays out there now in the $1000-$1500 range.

I had a new DLP engine put in, not sure if that included a DMD board, but they determined that the analog board was messed up because my analog AV inputs aren't working right - just a bunch of static and thick vertical pink bars on the screen.  After replacing the DLP engine the TV is still acting up; the only way it will turn on properly without freezing up is for me to unplug it for a short time then plug it back in and start it up.  They claim that the analog board could be causing problems even in the HDMI display, because the they're all interconnected somehow?
Last night was watching a DVD and the picture froze and almost the whole screen went solid green from top to bottom, even though the DVD was still playing (so it wasn't the DVD player); it then flashed off to dark and then the picture came back displaying normally again.  Weird. If I start the TV without first unplugging it, shortly thereafter the picture freezes up and the TV won't even let me turn it off - unplugging is the only way to shut it down.  I'm also going to have the lamp replaced; it's almost 4 years old now - thankfully all except the lamp is still under my extended warranty - I guess after replacing all this I'll have, for all intents and purposes, a new TV inside?

Hey Gregg, well you did the calibration on this TV for me, for which I am very grateful - I actually am not too concerned because my problems seem minor compared to some I've read about online with Samsung DLP's ..... mine still operates relatively normally after 4 years - I am going to replace the lamp, but to be honest there hasn't even been all that much dimming....

okay cool
does your model have the 2 circular access holes in the side panels?
If so...also reach in to the cabinet and give the mirror a quick wipe down and also wipe off the lense.
dust is a real killer on these RPTV units.
