Did anyone catch the premiere? Yes, it looks like it's treading similiar ground to "Twilight" (and "Gossip Girl"!), but it was decent enough to warrant checking out the second episode. If nothing else, there's some excellent eye-candy!

I don't agree with the whole aging concern. Age 18-25 can be a pretty amorphous age physically, especially when you don't have a reference point. And even if you do, I think viewers ultimately understand it's a TV show. I watch the first season of Buffy and notice how young (and thin) David Boreanaz was, but that doesn't make me enjoy it less.

I'm hooked enough to stick around for a couple more eps. I think it's more interesting than Twilight (and at least these vampires have fangs and don't go all *sparkle pretty* in the sunlight).
I also think they should have reversed the casting for the brothers. Somerhalder is much better looking than Paul Wesley (who is actually 27 years old in real life, by the way) and I think would be more convincing as the young heartthrob, while Paul would be better as the evil brother.

I'm not sure I'll keep watching. The pilot didn't grab me, was only vaguely interesting, and at times was painfully juvenile. I enjoyed Twilight much more than this. And Buffy. Never watched Angel. I may give it a few more episodes to see if it picks up depending on what else is airing.

Yes, it was very much like Twilight in that Steffan could hear the thoughts of others, he is "older" than the girl he falls for and Steffan is brooding and all the girls want him. That said, I am interested in enough to see what they do with this show, because I am into the whole vampire thing right now.

While I liked the pilot I enjoyed the second episode a bit less.
First off, too much music, even for a CW show, almost every instance where no one was speaking we were treated to another song.
I also made a promise to myself, if I hear the words 'sex' or 'slept with' more than a maximum of four times in a single episode, i'm out. Those who have seen even a few minutes of The Secret Life of the American Teenager on ABC Family know what i'm talking about lol.
The dialogue on that show makes me want to vomit.

If I am remembering correctly (from Lost Boys), if you invite a vampire into your house they can come in whenever and do whatever? Trying to remember some old vampire lore and it isn't coming to me.
I thought this latest episode was decent. I am excited to see how they bring the witch/psychics character out more. I like the tension between Steffon and his brother and cannot wait to see how this whole Katherine thing plays out.
Still enjoying.

Yeah, the "invitation" is pretty much standard vampire lore. Whether it can be revoked may be more flexible from story to story. I was just watching some vampire story recently where a character revoked her invitation so one vampire could no longer enter her home (I think it was "True Blood.").
Stefan definitely needs to just kill Damon. That's the only way he'll ever have any peace. But I don't see it happening for several reasons:
- Stefan is apparently much weaker than Damon because he refuses to feed on humans, so he's unlikely to be able to overpower Damon in a hand-to-hand fight.
- Stefan is kind of a wuss and unlikely to be able to kill his own brother even in self-defense.
- It would remove one of the main conflict points on the show, not to mention some of the eye candy important to the CW's core of female viewers.

Interesting story in the latest episode. I'm glad we are getting somewhere with the history of the Salvatores. As much as I want to dislike Damon, I actually do not. I find his character very interesting and I'm even more intrigued about the whole Damon/Steffon/Katherine triangle.
It was nice to see witchy finding out she has more than just psychic abilities.
Even more curious now that some of the towns folk are realizing that bodies drained of blood=vampires.

REALLY enjoyed this week's episode. It's beginning to take on the feel of an updated "Dark Shadows" rather than just a "Twilight" clone.

VD is decent viewing material, but I could do without Elena's brother or the druggie girl he's infatuated with. You knew the uncle was a goner since they casted an unknown for the role.

I think Damon is a good part of the story, but yes, I can definitely do without his stupid blond plaything. She bugs me. Now that Steffon knows about witchy's powers, I wonder if they will have more interaction. I am still enjoying this show.

I'm not familiar with the books at all, but this is feeling more "Dark Shadows"-ish...especially this week's episode. The parallel storyline (even down to the current characters playing roles in the flashback) seems very familiar.....

I'm getting frustrated because my dvr has not been recording this show for me, even though it shows that it is set to record every week. Argh! I've had to go online to find the episodes.
Great episode! I really loved seeing the two brothers and Katherine. I also started reading the books and I am noticing that the series is based loosely upon the books and not exactly like them. So much is different, it is a bit awkward to go through both stories at the same time, I might just wait on reading them.

I can't believe that Stefan and Elena allowed Damon to be alone in the house with Jeremy. It seems totally out of character for them, the way they both distrust and hate (?) Damon and the state of Jeremy's mind at the time. Why would they permit him to perform his mind trick on Jeremy without supervision and trust him to make the changes Elena wanted?
It seems almost like a "jump the shark" moment very early in the show's run.

I also thought it was really odd that Elena and Stefan allowed Damon to be alone with Jeremy. Damon went off character for me when he told Elena that she was bleeding and she should leave. So what happened to Viki? What did Damon do with her? And why couldn't Stefan erase Jeremys memory like he did with Viki in an earlier episode. So many questions I have! I'm very curious about how they will work witchy and her powers into the show. I love that Whitley is her grandma! Still enjoying this show, but yeah.... Damon erasing jeremys memory was a bit odd.
