Optoma HD20, Onkyo HTS9100THX, PS3 = Is this a good combination for a movie room?

I just purchased all of the above. My room is small 12' x 18', so i went with an 82" screen. I have everything assembled except for the stereo that is on back order. Hopefully that will be in next week. I keep watching "the dark night" on it with no sound - the picture is awesome. I am very new to all this but have a couple questions. 1) when the stereo comes in can i set up the microphone thingy without furniture in the room and then reset it up when i get furniture? 2) Can i hook the PS3 up directly to the projector via a 25' HDMI cable? If so, how do i get the 7.1 sound out of the stereo? Do i use another HDMI cable to the stereo? do i have to port from the PS3? I messed up on the throw distance, it was to be 10' 9" and i have it at 10' 6" is there anyway to get the picture to fill the screen? I seem to have a 1/2" space all the way around the edge of the screen?? Thanks in advance!

1. Yes.
2.  Yes.  Only 5.1 is available via optical (unless someone corrects me).  To get 7.1 you run the HDMI through your receiver to the projector.
3.  I don't have that projector but most have an adjustment.  At my current distance, my picture is adjustable from about 70" to 150".

Don't forget to calibrate the picture as well as the sound system.  Avia of Video Essentials are the two recommended discs.

Be sure to recalibrate with the furniture in the room.  It makes a big difference.

You cannot get any of the new HD formats with optical.  You should run the HDMI it through the receiver.
