Dual Boot PS3 for streaming video

Hello There All,

Below is the set-up I'm about to purchase, I already know thats it's possible to dual boot the PS3 with LINUX on it with a keyboard & mouse setup I found online. What I don't know is if it will support streaming video( I think it should but I could be wrong ). I say this because I'm trying to avoid having to hook up a PC to the receiver and go through all the other motions involved with trying to figure out how to get it from a USB to HDMI conversion and find the software to support when I can already use the existing PS3 and it's ethernet & HDMI cable that already exists so I can watch streaming movies etc off the internet thru the receiver have it upgrade the signal to the TV or am I not thinking correctly?

If you're getting a PS3 slim, you can't do this period.  Can't help otherwise, just mentioning that.
