replace lamp again or replace projector?

I admit my sanyo plv z2 is a little funky. I bought it used on e-Bay three years ago and the fan usually switches up high during the middle of a movie. That's fine, it's a tiny HT so we do get warm in there.
But the new problem is this- a replace lamp warning light is now flashing after replacing the lamp 7 months ago. Is it worth trying a new lamp or should I bite the bullet and start shopping for a new projector?  I did finally clean out the filter and it was filthy. Could that burn out the lamp faster?

you need to keep the filter clean.

This is a good PJ to replace.

Does it still work?
Sometimes the warning is on a timer.
Did you reset the lamp hour counter when you replaced the lamp?
Did you get a Factory lamp or an Aftermarket (possibly inferior) lamp?

Is the warning light on since you cleaned the filter? Like Steve said, if you didn't reset the lamp timer, that could be why the light is coming on. If this is a different problem, I wouldn't put any more money into that dinosaur.

For the cost of the lamp maybe you'll want to just to upgrade... depends entirely on your budget of course!  If you're tired of replacing lamps there's also that new Samsung LED projector.  I think at 400 lumens it's usuable for most gaming / TV watching, although with movies you might want a DLP or SXRD projector!
