Do Certain Stores Have Deals to Sell Blu-Rays Long Before General Street Date?

So I was at a certain store that loves the colors blue and yellow and I notice on the Blu-Ray shelves that "Shaun of the Dead" and "Hot Fuzz" are available. So my first question is "How the hell did I miss that they were out this week" I check my Wife's iPhone and go to Amazon and see that these titles aren't scheduled for release until nearly a month from now. So I purchase these with no problem. For contrast, at Costco, I have occaisonaly seen them put out DVDs a week or two early, but when you try to check them out, they won't ring up because it's before the street date. I figure to have product on the shelves nearly a month before general street date is unusual, so I wonder if this major store has a deal to sell early.

Best Buy apparently had a deal for Shaun, HF, and a movie called Grace to release them several weeks early.   I'm not sure what the deal is, but it is nationwide.   Best Buy also did this with some of the Bond Discs several months ago so I'm guessing they pay a decent sum to get exclusivity rights though they really don't aggresively advertise it that way.
