Mounting 58" Plasma on Brick Wall

 I recently purchased a 58" Panasonic Vieral Plasma model V10 (110 pounds without stand).  I would like to mount the TV on the back wall of my fireplace.  One home theater installer said it would definitely not be a problem and the other said that it would not be safet to mount it on the brick.  The installer in favor of it cited the fact that my home is 50+ years old and has better materials of construction than a newer home.  What say you, experts?

HI! my father is a home builder for start. I had the same question for hanging my Pioneer KRP -500A (abt 32 kgs) onto brick wall and said it is OK PROVIDED THAT you will use to fill into the holes the special foam used when installing the door cases. This foam gets pretty hard once dried and you will not have a problem. If you don't use this foam then probably you should consider placing your TV elsewhere...

I believe it's best to anchor into the mortar joints, providing the mortar is in good shape. Some prople may prefer to drill into the brick though. Use a good quality fastener. Most home improvement stores carry a varity of them. Remember, although the TV weighs 90 lbs. or so. The majority of the weight is downward and not out.
