WHV John Wayne / John Ford Collection REPACKAGE...

Is this in stores yet and can anyone confirm whether the set (packaging and all) will be identical to the previous release, minus the inclusion of Stagecoach (and with the Ford documentary in it's place)??

Also, does anyone know whether Warners has licensed it's extras from the previous two-disc set to Criterion for their upcoming release?

Why's Stagecoach not included on the new boxset?

Because Criterion licensed it our from Warners for release, hence the reason for the repackage and reissue.

The irony is that for the longest time, I held out on purchasing the Canadian edition because Stagecoach wasn't included, apparently due to distribution rights on this side of the border. I'll wait to pick up the reissue since the new Ford documentary is being included in it's place. But I would still like to know if the package is otherwise identical. I assume it's just the existing DVDs?

Warner did not license it to Criterion.  Warner never actually owned the rights to the film (or The Long Voyage Home, which will also not be in the new Ford box).  Warner licensed them from the library of The Stanley Caidin Trust, which has been represented by Castle Hill Films. That license has expired, and Criterion has picked it up.  Don't look for the Criterion to contain any of the Warner supplements.

Castle Hill also controls HISTORY IS MADE AT NIGHT, FOREIGN CORRESPONDENT, and I MARRIED A WITCH, does it not?  I'd love to see Criterion tackle those titles!

Isn't Wagon Master going to be included in this now? Isn't that the only reason they are releasing Wagon Master is to save this John Ford/ John Wayne box set?

Wagon Master is a separate release as is the John Ford Documentary.

Wagon Master is a separate release -- couldn't include it in the box because Wayne isn't in it!  It'd also be a sure fire way of pissing off every last person who already owned the prev. set if WHV were going to issue the new WM that way.

The new Ford documentary IS going to be included in the repackaged box sets that hit stores next month!

It looks like the repackage may also be missing The Long Voyage Home.
