Anyone know if any of the S1 episodes were included in that Wagon Train B/W - Color combination set that was released last fall?

Far be it for me to cry "wolf", but the limited edition mention concerns me. Hopefully it will hang on long enough to drop in price and not sell out.

I have that Wagon Train set from last fall (the color seaon set with the bonus B/W discs from the other seasons) and if these prints are as good as the ones in the combined set, they should be fairly good quality.
The problem for me is that there will be a little duplication of episodes if I decide to get the S1 B/W set since, according to the box set from last fall, the 16-episode B/W discs contain episodes from the B/W seasons. I haven't watched many of the B/W episodes yet so there may be only a couple of duplicate episodes from the S1 set.

Jeff, you need not worry too much. There are only 4 S1 episodes in last fall's 16 disc set, so that leaves 35 previously unreleased episodes in this new set.
Personally, I'll wait for S1 to show up at Sam's Club. They always seem to have a healthy selection of Timeless releases at competitive prices.

Thanks for the info! This one sounds good for "Santa's" sleigh on the night of the 24th :)
Billy B: +1. I remember watching this with Dad long ago. Great show. I have that Color-season set that was released last fall with the 16 B/W episodes but I'll get this one as well.

I'm open to purchasing this one too, but I'm going to wait it out a bit until I can snag it for around $40. But it will be in my library at some point, of that I'm certain.
Gary "I'm taking the same purchasing philosophy with the upcoming Bonanza set too - holding out till I can get the entire 1st Season (both volumes) for about $40" O.

I'm not sure if this has been mentioned here yet, but there is a pretty strong rumor on the 'Net that this 1st Season set is going to be a Sam's Club exclusive. Adding strength to this rumor is that both Barnes&Noble and Deep Discount have now removed the set from their site (DD says it's discontinued). Only Amazon still has it listed. This Sam's Club Exclusive info comes from a pretty solid source too: Classicflix. And they are almost never wrong.
Gary "I'm a member of Sam's Club so if the price is right it won't affect me, but I hope this info is wrong because it ices out too many potential buyers" O.

That's not good news, Gary, for at least myself. I've not been a fan of these "exclusive" deals, ie, Route 66 / Best Buy , the Time-Life deals, etc. I guess I'll wait until this one gets a widespread release later on since I'm not a Sam's Club mbr and it's not worth joining for this situation.

It will probably be an exclusive only for a limited time.
But it is confirmation of a close working relationship between Sam's and Timeless. Sam's Club does appear to be their primary B&M outlet.
Given Sam's pricing on Timeless product, the cost of Wagon Train S1 should be reasonable.

I'd agree with all those sentiments, Tim. I can't imagine Timeless would ice all the other retailers out. They would only be hurting themselves if they didn't open the release up for a wider distribution later on. And the pricing for these releases has always been very good in Sam's Clubs, so I'm hoping this one will come in at something like $39.99 because that's my holdout price for this particular release.
Gary "this is being advertised as a 'Limited Edition' though, so I guess anything is possible as far as distribution goes" O.

Gary's mention of "limited ed" jogged my memory about this set. Is this the set that has the "tin" DVD package? Did TSoD mention that or somewhere else? If that's the limited ed, maybe that's the reason for the exclusive Sam's distribution deal. If that's the case, it won't matter to me later on if I get this in a widespread release without the limited ed "tin" container.

Yep, that's the one you are thinking of Jeff. It's supposed to come in a tin that looks like a covered wagon. No, I'm not joking about that.

Gary "I'm with you on packaging Jeff - that kind of gimmicky stuff doesn't matter to me at all" O.

I somehow doubt that there was overwhelming demand for Wagon Train Season 1! It must be this crazy Timeless/Sam's Club pairing. I don't have a Sam's Club near me so it is kind of irritating.
+1. I've never been in favor of "exclusive" offers, Best Buy, Sam's, etc. I haven't checked if this one is available online from Sam's but I'm not a Sam's member so I'll have to wait for this one.

I'm a Sam's Club member and visit about once every couple of weeks. I'll be going in tomorrow so I'll let everyone know if/when I see anything. The price would have to be under $50 before I'd even think about purchasing.
