I have a sony str-de197, it is an older reciever, but it is what I have. I like audio, more than video. I want the house wired for sound, but am on a tight budget. 1000 total to spend...maybe a tad more, but not much. Found a set of speakers on ebay that they are selling 8- 8" ceiling speakers. I need to know a few things... would a single ceiling mounted speaker in a 14x14 room have good sound? Would it be better to mount it in the wall? If I want to control the volume, on/off function of the speakers per room, is there a way to do this from a single location. I really don't want to do wall mounted volume controls in each room.
The speaker wire run would be no longer than 90ft to any one area from a central location, so would 14 gauge wire work?
Hardware? Is the Sony that I have enough to run this with an amp? would a different reciever be better? what features should I look for?
The room layout is living space 14x25, kitchen/dining 14x25, master 14x18, bedroom 1 and 2 14x14. I want sound in each room. TV's will be in master, dining and one bedroom. Can TV audio be controlled from same reciever?
