Updating My Home Theater **Need Help**

Hi, I am new to the forums and need some help. I am in the process of updating my home theater system. I would like a 7.1 receiver and a 5.1 speaker setup due to room limitations at the moment.

Uses:
25% Movies
25% Audio
25% Tv (mostly sporting events)
25% Xbox 360

Receiver: ($1000 Budget)
- Need at least 3 HDMI ports
- 7.1

Speakers: (%1500 Budget)
- 2 Towers
- Center Channel
- 2 Rear
- Sub Preferably 10" or greater

I am leaning towards a HK avr 354 and klipsch speakers. I listened to them at best buy and the setup sounded good. The only problem with this is that i read a review about running xbox360 through the hk 345 and it not working properly. Something like the fps were slow. If this is true then i'd most likely lean towards an onkyo. I have had one for a few years now and i have had nothing but good things to say about it. I am completely open for suggestions though so fire away!

Thaks for the help in advance

Check out the Onkyo 607.  You can find them for $400-500.

If you like the sound of Klipsch, check out Axiom (not nearly as bright, but otherwise similar).

M60 Towers: $1000
VP100 Center: $255
QS4 Surrounds: 428

Add a PC12 NSD sub from SVS for about $550 and you are real close to your stated budget

You will get a discount from Axiom when you get 5 speakers or more (10% I think).  Also look at the 'B' stock from Axiom and SVS for even more savings.....

FWIW, I replaced an HK with an Onkyo last year.  I REALLY like Audyssey EQ.

I am also considering just going with the front three and a sub upgrade for now so i can get higher quality speakers. so i wouldd have 1500 for 2 towers a center and a sub. Will that be a better move?

A pair of Ascend CMT-340's with stands and a CMT-340 center $966 + shipping
An SVS PB10-NSD $449 + shipping

The "2EQ" version of Audyssey (Oink 607) is crippled and does not even do the sub channel.
Get something with Audyssey MultEQ or MultEQ-XT.  Even the cheapest Denon has MultEQ, and if you call and ask authorized internet dealers, you can get a 2009 Denon AVR-790
http://www.usa.denon.com/ProductDetails/4891.asp for considerably less than MSRP.
