I'm in for TOS Season 2 and First Contact on Blu-ray.  Kudos to Paramount for making FC available separately since it's the only good TNG film IMO.

I wished that were true of the other three films, so far I've avoided purchasing "Nemesis".

Disney/Buena Vista/Miramax: Please put Beautiful Girls on Blu-ray with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer in 1080p, and an anamorphic re-release with bonus features and the original theatrical trailer day-and-date on DVD. Thanks!

I am glad to see First Contact being offered separately, too. That is the only NG film I care to buy on BD.

The Frakes/Sirtis commentary on Insurrection should be a hoot.

I wonder if we'll get the Generations trailers this time.

Frakes commentary for Insurrection! Yay! If it's half as good as the bizarre one he did for First Contact then I'll be happy.

Why no 7.1 sound for the TNG flicks though?

The 5.1 refers to the DVD's methinks as they do not get 7.1 sound so the press release is wrong as it should list 7.1 for the BD's like it does for the TOS S2. As for Frakes his 1st commentary for ST9 in 1998 was apparently censored so I wonder how much makes it to disc (not much I bet!) or if this is a new recording.

TOS Season 2 BD set for $79.99 MSRP??? Woo-Freakin'-Hoo! I wonder what Amazon will sell it for? I'm so in. And also for the TNG BD set. And the '09 Film. It's a good year to be a trekkie!

There are three things I can't stand: 1) Intolerance; and 2) People who can't count.

I never heard anything about Sirtis contributing to Insurrection previously, so I expect that this commentary is all-new.

It should be one disc less than Season 1, and Season 3 should be one less than Season 2.  I was wondering if they'd adjust the pricing.  I think the DVD sets were all priced the same.  Season 1 BD sold for $64.99 at Amazon.  Anybody remember what the MSRP was?

I hope to high heaven the trailers ARE included, but I won't be surprised if this is another snafu with press information.  They were listed on the SCE cover, too, and never made it onto the discs...

I like the cover shots:

Actually, both season 1 & 2 will have 7 discs.

29 'hour' episodes for season 1 (one disc had five episodes)
26 for two
26 for three (including two versions of the 'Cage')

Thanks for clarifying.  I stand corrected.  Although the number of discs will be the same, because we're getting less content, we should expect lower pricing from CBS/Paramount.  Hey...what are you laughing at?

Umm...never mind.  I just woke up.

They just had to put something Borg on the cover even though they are only in one movie.  Should have gone with just the E and a planet like the first 6 movie set.  I'm so freaking tired of the Borg thanks to VOY and I hope they never appear in Trek again.

They are the most popular TNG villain.  And, when you look at the first 6 movies, you can make a case for the Klingons or Khan being the most well known.  But with the TNG flicks, you're not putting Shinzon on the cover.

More details from Comic Con emerge.

TOS S2 is a 7 disc set. The DS9 and TAS Tribble episodes are included. So does that mean DS9 and TAS are in HD? I guess so!

Here's a copy and paste from trekmovie's article. The pricing is in conflict with the press release above. I'll have to look into that, it must not be updated at Amazon:
Pre-order available
Star Trek Season Two on Blu-ray arrives September 22nd and is now available for pre-order at Amazon for $90.99 (discounted from $129.99).

Here's a link to trekmovie:

Nelson, the article just speculated that the set could contain the various tribble episodes. I'm sure they will, but they'll be SD extras. DS9 doesn't even exist in HD, but TAS does, it would be nice to at least have that.

I also just posted this in the dedicated TOS S2 thread, but this press release lists the MSRP for S2 at $79.99, mistake?  Like I said in the other thread, I paid $60 for Season 1, and wont pay one cent more for Season 2. Hell I can walk into a Best Buy and get S1 for less than Amazon's pre-order price here.

"Because he's the hero that Gotham deserves, but not the one it needs right now... and so we'll hunt him... because he can take it... because he's not a hero... he's a silent guardian, a watchful protector... a DARK KNIGHT."

Hi Zack-

You're right, speculation that Trials and Tribble-ations and the TAS episode will be included in the BD of S2. I suspect it will be because it was part of the standard DVD Remastered set. I read it too quickly! It would be cool if both are on a BD disc.

I think the Amazon pre-order price is probably old info and needs updating. I'll bet the price will be the same as S1.

STAR TREK® – THE ORIGINAL SERIES
SEASON TWO BLU-RAY

Featuring The Mobile-BluTM Application Allowing Fans To Download
Exclusive Content and Control Blu-ray Players With Their iPhone
Experience one of the greatest action-adventure sagas like never before when the thrilling second season of STAR TREK®: THE ORIGINAL SERIES blasts onto Blu-ray disc September 22 from CBS Home Entertainment and Paramount Home Entertainment.

The seven-disc set features all 26 sophomore season episodes, each with superior picture and pristine audio, bringing fans closer than ever to the history and characters of STAR TREK®.  An entire disc is dedicated to “The Trouble With Tribbles,” arguably the franchise’s most famous episode for its depiction of the cute and fuzzy, though ultimately quite dangerous, creatures.

Starring one of the most endearing casts in television history – led by William Shatner, Leonard Nimoy, DeForest Kelley, James Doohan and Nichelle Nichols – STAR TREK® is a worldwide phenomenon and served as a launching pad for numerous television series and feature films, including this year’s J.J. Abrams-directed mega-blockbuster.

Offering the best of both worlds, the second season Blu-ray release of STAR TREK®: THE ORIGINAL SERIES features Seamless Branching technology that allows fans to toggle between the newly-enhanced and original special effects. In addition, the series is presented in 7.1 DTS-HD Master Audio, the best sound format possible, with the option to select mono as heard on the series’ original television airings.

Beyond the Tribble-specific bonus disc, this set also includes “Starfleet Access” content on select episodes which provides fans with special pop-up trivia and picture-in-picture video commentaries, rare on-set home movie footage and new special features on BD Live.  Also, every disc is Mobile BluTM enabled.  Once downloaded, Mobile BluTM allows Trekkies to turn their iPhones into Blu-ray player remote controls and download exclusive featurettes for on-the-go entertainment.  The definitive release that fans have been waiting for, STAR TREK®: THE ORIGINAL SERIES SEASON TWO BLU-RAY  will be available for the suggested retail price of $118.99 US and $136.99 CAN. Exclusive Star Trek Monopoly cards will also be included in early shipments of the Blu-ray set, while supplies last.
