SYNOPSIS

Battlestar Galatica: The Plan..  The Cylons began as humanity's robot servants.  They rebelled and evolved and now they look like us.  Their plan is simple: destroy the race that enslaved them.  But when their devastating attack leaves human survivors, the Cylons have to improvise.  Battlestar Galatica: The Plan tells the story of two powerful Cylon leaders, working separately, and their determination to finish the task.

An inspired, visually stunning reimagining of the 1978 series of the same name, Battlestar Galactica captured the imaginations of a new generation of fans with its gritty realism, compelling storylines and commanding performances. The show garnered numerous awards, including two Emmys® and the prestigious George Foster Peabody Award and was recognized by the American Film Institute (AFI) as one of the most outstanding television programs of the year for two years running. In March 2009, Battlestar Galactica’s impassioned explorations of today’s hot-button issues, including politics, terrorism, treatment of prisoners and religion, even inspired the United Nations to host a special panel to discuss the questions it has raised. The series is from Universal Cable Productions and is executive produced by Ronald D. Moore and David Eick.

No but in all fairness, the series set is coming out 3 months before this airs or is released on video.

Thanks Ronald for the info on BSG: The Plan as I am looking foward to checking this title out as soon as it is released.  I really enjoyed the series and will be buying the complete series on Bluray very soon.  Has there been any news about any other spin off shows or direct to video titles from the Battlestar Galactica serieis?

As of now, Caprica (the prequel series set 60 or so years before the events of BSG) starts airing next year. The pilot for that already came out on DVD but I'd guess they're waiting until there's a season set for a Blu-ray release.

There's also an extended version of The Plan but I guess Universal wants to make money off the broadcast version before releasing that.

The news is that there almost certainly won't be any more direct-to-video titles, since the sets were struck. While they archived enough information that they could recreate them, The Plan would have to sell a lot of copies to make that worthwhile.

The initial release, per the press release, is the extended version ("uncut and uncensored").

^ 'Uncut and uncensored' doesn't mean that it's an extended cut. According to Olmos, his cut runs nearly 2 and a half hours. Maybe the extended version has been scrapped and the footage will be on the disc as deleted scenes or maybe the press release is wrong but I can't believe that if there's a second version of the movie with nearly an hour of footage that won't be in the TV cut that the press release wouldn't mention it.

Olmos, at the ComiCon panel, seemed positive there would be more. I sure hope he is right!

Ah. I hadn't heard that figure before. (But on a show that routinely ran as much as 50% long on an episode, it's just par for the course at this point.)
