Yeah, its the talk of the town. Seems Lionsgate has kept their promise to dig deep into their vault to bring out more of these movies after the success of The Monster Squad. Only thing is, I wish it was more than just one title a year! Also, they came up with cover art that resembles art from other movies, namely Troll 2. Why don't they use the art that already exists?

I agree that the cover art is crap, but this movie's a lot of fun, and good 'n' creepy for a PG-13. For those wondering about the hubbub: shocktillyoudrop.com/nextraimages/gate-dvd-art.jpg

Troll 2, nothing; this loooks like some lame sequel to Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D.

\"My opinion is that (a) anyone who actually works in a video store and does not understand letterboxing has given up on life, and (b) any customer who prefers to have the sides of a movie hacked off should not be licensed to operate a video player.\"-- Roger Ebert

Very pleased to see this getting some much-deserved TLC. I had the UK DVD for a short time, but it was a 4:3 transfer that looked terrible.

I like that new cover, but would have rather had the great claw-coming-out-of-the-ground poster art.

Forthcoming UK DVD releases database: Incoming.

Well, for those who hate the cover art, im sure there will be an insert inside the dvd, with the original art.The monster squad dvd had it, so im assuming this dvd will have it.So just stick that in front of the case, problem solved.

I can't stand Lionsgate.  They constantly try to make their vintage horror movies look like they were just released in theaters a few months ago with their dvd covers.  That new cover(minus the little critters) doesn't even resemble the movie.  Who is that actor on the cover?  Was he in the movie?
Like the My Bloody Valentine release, I think I'll be skipping this one as well.
They don't respect the horror movies enough to give them a decent cover, then why should I buy it?

Because you like the movie? It's your money but not buying a movie that you want because of the cover makes no sense to me.

That's too bad because that MBV disc is one of the best horror releases to come out recently.  If anything, you could have just put the disc in the case of the old Paramount release that had the original poster art.

I know we're supposed to be enjoying a movie and not the artwork but every time I'm at a store browsing DVDs (and thinking about buying one) I cringe at all the lousy art that these guys come up with and, for some reason, I think of all those crappy sci-fi channel movies of the week with the bad CGI. Lionsgate's recent Near Dark re-release is a good example: cover art that resembles that Twilight movie. Pick up Anchor Bay's version now before its too late!

Exactly my point.  Lionsgate needs a wake up call.   Their catalog of older horror movies would push a hell of lot more units without a "modernized" ugly as sin dvd cover that doesn't even resemble the actual film.  I used to think Universal was bad(Jurassic Park's dvd cover was a travesty) but Lionsgate has been 100% consistent with their horrible covers.  They never fail to disappoint me.
