best version of willy wonka (original movie) to get on dvd?

so it looks like there's several versions, including a much maligned pan&scan version (which i'll obviously skip).  but from what i can tell, there was an anamorphic version released in 2001, but another in 2005?  and it looks like one version actually cropped the top & bottom to make a "fake" wide-screen?

so ... uhh ... which is the best version to get?

thanks!

I think this is the one you want, the Ted.  2005 WS DVD.  IIRC, the HTF was instrumental in the release of the WS version after the P&S version was announced.  It all seems like so long ago!

But, are you into Blu-ray yet?  If so, wait until October 20.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

I'm pretty sure the 2005 DVD is the same as the 2001 disc - it was just repackaged in a different case.

It's definitely the way to go for SD-DVD:

BTW, it's not "fake widescreen".  Yes, the fullscreen version show more info, but it's an open matte image - you're seeing things you weren't MEANT to see...
