How to use usb port on Sony Bravia?

I've got a Sony Bravia KDL52V5100 - I've put a thumbnail drive into the usb port with mp3s stored on it but I can figure out how to access the usb port to play the files.

Can someone please enlighten me?

Owners manual states to use the Tool button.  Page 18 & 19

Also, for these type of things often the "U3" type drives don't work, you have to use a plain drive or remove the U3.
