Regarding Onkyo TX-SV909PRO

Hi guys, I just acquired this Onkyo TX-SV909PRO AV amp, I hooked up with a 5.1 system with a dvd player.

My question is when I  turned on the surround mode there is no audio producin in any of my 5 speakers.

What am I missing here? Each of the surround mode I selected dosent seem to work.

As I do not have the original manual and remote control I do not know what are other setup options.

Only when I turned off the surround mode I only get the audio through my front 2 speakers which is normal right?.

I know its a old amp but if you guys have ever owned or experienced with this amp before please tell me what are the proper steps

to  turn on the surround mode. I'll appreicate any of your reply, thanks.

Download the manual from the onkyo.com website, that should tell you what to do.

It may be difficult to configure it without a remote.  You should perhaps get a Logitech Harmony universal remote, so you can punch in the model # and get full control.

If surround mode off = stereo, surround mode on = no sound from anything, then I'd check speaker selector switch, might have some B/C set on disabling surround.

Hi thks for yr response, I found the manual n readin every words but it dosent help.
Just find it strange since front L/R is workin why isit when surround mode is on  not even front
speakers producin audio.

"then I'd check speaker selector switch, might have some B/C set on disabling surround"
what do u mean by this?

I know its a old amp yet it still powerful, jus find it a waste if i let it hung out dry.

On the front panel there is a "speaker selector" switch, make sure "main" is activated, not "remote".  You are wired to "front", "center", and "rear", right?  Not the "front enhance" or "remote".

For troubleshooting may want to remove center/rear speakers, turn on the surround see if can get sound out of the fronts.  Maybe you have a short somewhere kicking in the protection circuit when you activate surround mode.
