A NA PS3 will not.
Games are not region coded, but movies still are. This is more likely your issue here.

I don't think the PS3 plays PAL, region coded or not.
They flutter behind you, your possible pasts.
Some bright-eyed and crazy, some frightened and lost.

Yes playstation have region code on all the previous versions playstation as well.

Region code has nothing to do with it. Even a region-free PAL disc will not play in the PS3, which is extremely unfortuntate. The machine is certainly capable of it, but Sony has not enabled it for whatever reason.
