 have linksys router.
when i try to connect to internet with ps3 wireless my ps3 cant scan our connection when it is sright next to it. But if i do it manually by putting the SSID and WEP password it can at least get the IP address, but not the internet connection or playstation network. MY ps3 has been able to connect to the internet before and oddly my psp can get a signal not my ps3. is it a problem with the mac address and my router not trusting my ps3's address. also it says the  for under IP address "(private network only)". My normal computer speed is actually excellent dont know why it isnt working on ps3. Or is there a possible setting on my router that could cause my ps3 to not connect?
also i am getting a lot of DNS error

It's probably a router issue.  First off, don't put the SSID in manually, try to set it to scan for it.  Second, double-check that the password settings are correct.  Third, make sure your router can accept multiple wireless connections.  Fourth, try setting the router to Channel 1 or 11 (this is how mine is set because Nintendo suggests doing it for the Wii and DS, and it seems to work for my PS3).  See if any of that works.

This sounds like a security issue on your wireless settings tab.

You may not have the router configured right.

There are settings that stop the broadcast of t=your signal, if this is on it may account for why the PS3 is not seeing the router.

You say the PS3 is right next to the router, I highly suggest that you hook up wired then. You will get a lot better transfer rate and way less headaches.

Something else to consider is is other wireless devices in your house.

Do you have any cell phones near it? Cordless phones, Wii? PSP? DS? Wifi PC?

All of these are possible signal interrupters when on.

My modem/router has a firewall, is yours enabled? That will cause problems.
