William Orbit My Oracle Lives Uptown

Having just found and joined the HTF a couple of days ago, I scanned through to find any Threads dealing with William Orbit...didn't...and thought I'd start with his latest release "My Oracle Lives Uptown."

Growing up in the 50's and 60's and listening to music progress (digress) through the decades, I first discovered William Orbit in the early 1990's while doing some research on Peter Gabriel. I bought Strange Cargo III and today (2009), it's still one of my most listened to cd's.

Not ever being a big Madonna fan, when I found out that William Orbit produced and played the music on her RAY OF LIGHT cd, I purchased that as well (I think of it as a William Orbit cd with Madonna on vocals .)

I love William Orbit's music. This guy just blows me away. I subscribe to Rhapsody's music service and am listening to his latest release "My Oracle Lives Uptown" as I write. Some of these tunes I've heard before, on a "Rare Orbit" collection I picked up. The first thing I noticed is that PURDY is mixed different from the RARE ORBIT offering. But still and all, a GREAT song!

I have all William Orbit releases that I know of. He did release Hinterland back in the 90's under the name Strange Cargo, and it contains the "classic" MONTOK POINT.

I noticed there was a Thread regarding Beth Orton on the HTF forum. I'm in the process of locating her releases. I know she collaborated with William Orbit (or vice-versa) on songs.

Another 90's band with William Orbit connections is TORCH SONG. Really like their music too.

Any other William Orbit fans out there?

Yeah, I have the Bassomatic CDs as well as Strange Cargo III that you mention, and also the Hello Waveforms CD, which is, of course, also great.
He really picked up Madonna when she needed it. He did wonders with Pink and her stuff for the Charlie's Angels movie as well, Feel Good Time is classic Orbit.

Need to check out that new album now :)
