Panasonic remote n2qayb000100 for TH-42PX77U menu problem

After losing my remote in the sofa for a month, finally found it, but after replacing the batteries, I can do almost everything in the menus except actually change a setting. I can maneuver through the menus, but when it comes time to select an item to change, it won't select, it just moves down to the next element.

Any way to set back to factory defaults?
Possibly program it with it's own code? I'd hate to do that with the wrong code and have other functions not work, as it's only the menu functions.

Thanks in advance.

weird
Make sure that your remote has the TV selected and not the BluRay / DVD / Cable (etc) selected.

Yes, it does. The TV button flashes every time I press something.

OK, I feel pretty stupid....the round menu button is dorked up....have to press it at about the 4 o'clock position to select "right". The real answer is get a good universal.
