Just watched '24' Season one for the first time ever...

Spent the 4th of July weekend with Jack Bauer and co...done.

The stakes went up considerably in the second season with Jack now having heart problems and president Palmer either poisoned or dead, dying to know which but if the goal of the terrorists who orchastrated the nuke was to start a war than I fear the worst for David.

I was sweatin' bullets during those last 4 or 5 hours as Jack raced to prove that the recording was a fake and convince the new president to call off the bombers...whew! Sherry actually gained some points with me for helping Jack but it doesn;t excuse the fact that she helped the terrorists out of sheer revenge against David.

Bring on season 3!

If you have the time try watching all 24 ep's in a row.

I did it once and it really gives you the experience of it all happening in one day.  It gives you a different prospective and a better feel for the intensity and urgency of the show

I loved it.

I would suggest lots of coffee though.

Cool, i'll have to try that with season 4 hehe.

I'm a few hours into season 3 now and the shit has hit the fan in record time as Jack, burnt-out and on the edge Martin Riggs-style, tries to stop a group of sleezballs from releasing a deadly virus in LA.

I hate seeing Jack like this, he's just a total mess! Kim's working at CTU which should cut down on her being kidnapped lol. It's official, I have a serious crush on Michelle, too bad she married Tony, though, lucky bastard.

The one new character i'm not really liking is Jack's partner, and Kim's love intrest, Chase, the kid's a freakin' fetus and he thinks he's James Bond lol. But, judging from past movies and TV shows he seems to fall into the classic 'doomed boyfriend' category, I have a strong feeling he's a goner sooner or later.

Cool seeing a pre-Sylar/Spock Zachary Quinto as a computer nerd working at CTU.

Someone please tell me that Jack hasn't seen the last of Nina! She kills his wife and then is allowed to walk? Hell no, I want to see Jack wax her psychotic nazi ass!

Do you really think that Jack Bauer (and the writers) would let that happen?

Season Three is one of the show's weakest years but once it gets going, it's freaking awesome.

Oh good, I only ask because it's now been 4 years since she killed Teri and he hasn't caught up with her yet.

If this is one of the show's weakest years than I won't have any trouble enjoying any of them, i'm loving this season so far.

I was thinking about the logistics involved with making a season of this show, it must be extremely difficult to make many months of production appear to be one day! Cuts and wounds, stains on clothing and hairstyles need to match etc. I bought a dvd called 24 Behind the Scenes: The Editing Process, it was released by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences Foundation and it talks about how the show is put together.

I haven't watched it yet and won't until i'm caught up for fear of spoilers, it might show things that I don't want to see yet.

Just wanted to update you guys on my ongoing obsession with this insane and exhausting show. I'm right in the middle of season 6 and I don't even know where to begin to tell you how deeply this show is just choking me mentally, the experience of watching this show, especially season 5 which is my favorite so far, is like sweating over a ticking bomb trying to decide which wire to cut!

I've also been reading the old on-going threads of each season as I go along, stopping when I get to a spot I haven't seen yet. I really wish I would have watched this show as it aired so that I could join you guys in those threads, as I was reading I thought of many good Jack Bauer-isms and jokes that I could have interjected lol. That's cool, though, i'll be right there with you guys in the 24 season 8 thread.

The premiere of season 5 was devastating to me! My beloved Michelle and just all around nice guy David Palmer...dead. I began to doubt whether or not ANYONE would make it out of that season alive!

Jack Bauer is my new all American hero and he, in turn, makes me both cheer for him and also scares the living shit out of me! I'm at the spot right now where he has his brother strapped to a chair and is injecting him with pain...literally. I would have just loved to have been a fly on the wall at the Bauer house at Christmas when he was a kid lol.

I also fear for Jack, I really hope that at the end of this series he finds some sort of happiness, something to make all of this pain and suffering that this broken hero has been through worth it. Jack Bauer makes Martin Riggs look like a freakin' sissy.

I should be done with season 6 by next weekend (6 seasons of 24 in a month and a half...whew!) and plan to buy plenty of Red Bull and gear up for a full 24-hour marathon when I get to season 7 starting at 8:00 am next Saturday.

^ Don't forget to watch the S7 prequel movie Redemption. It's not mandatory to following S7's story but it definitely does have info that helps clarify story points that might otherwise be foggy.

Yes, absolutely, I plan on picking that up and watching it Friday night before I start.

I also picked up a copy of 24 The Game for my PS2, lots of fun! I get to be Jack Bauer and whoop some ass! Plus it bridges seasons 2 & 3 so I get to see how Chase came into play and other story points that were introduced in season 3.

Ive been commenting on this in another thread but any fans of 24 should try out the BBC series Spooks (called MI-5 in the US) Just been watching it and am completely hooked on it now. 7 seasons so far, and each one just seems to get better. Only 10 episode a season on average though but its great.

I'm re-watching 24 now and just watched this episode today.  When Jack said goodbye to Kim, over the phone on the plane, and again saying goodbye to George, well both made me a little teary too.

Jack Bauer dead? HA!

I did it guys, I watched season 7 in it's entirety in real time starting at 8:00 am yesterday morning and fought, scratched and wheezed my way to it's harrowing finish this morning...damn that was intense! I went the extra mile and paused it after each commercial break to allow time to catch up to the clock on the show and what's really cool is that when the sun set and rose on the show, so too did it in real life hehe...that made it feel all the more real.

When it was all over I felt wrung-out and exhausted and I spent the better part of today asleep lol.

I'm actually quite sad now because, well, it's over, no more 24 until it comes back on FOX. I've lived, breathed and ate this show for the past 2 months and now I have to resume my normal boring Jack Bauer-less life lol.

One thing that got to me this season was Tony became a villain! It made me so sad and angry to see what became of our favorite Cubs fan with the soul patch...Michelle would be disappointed in him i'm sure. I'll admit I got upset when Jack was exposed to that chemical agent but I knew that our hero can't die! I knew that somehow, someway he would beat this thing and that Kim was the key, looks like I was correct.

Anyway, watching this show has been a journey i'll not soon forget, it is without the slightest ping of hesitation the most intense, exciting and wildest rides ever to hit the small screen and I loved every god damned second of it! Bring on more Bauer in season 8!

I'm impressed and I'm the nut who does the bodycount list every year.

The new season starts on Sunday, January 17 at 9 PM with two episodes back to back (Jack Bauer is tough enough to bump the local news back an hour). Then two more episodes the next night at 8 PM.

I love your body count lists, how else are we to keep up with how much business Jack throws the coroner? Pausing it that much wasn't an easy task, particularly when I just had to know what happens next!

Also, and this was discussed in the old season threads, what is it with this show and the cast of Robocop? Every bad guy who killed Murphy has been in this show including Peter Weller himself!

I too was "late to the party" with 24 and have watched Season 1 and was blown away watching it - so addictive

currently reaching the end of Season 2, and totally gripped, cannot stop watching despite it being 1.45am and needing to go to work the next day....

its great to come to a show late because you can feed your addiction instantly with DVD box-sets that are available cheaply from exchange stores or internet retailers, rather than waiting each week for the next episode!

Welcome aboard!

I'm telling ya, this show is like cocaine for the eyes, if your anything like myself you'll need your fix constantly lol.

I hope you didn't read any of my above posts, they contain much you don't want to know until you see the entire series.

Yes, me too.  Especially in the plane. First Jack saying goodbye to Kim, then his conversation with Mason, Mason telling him the brave thing is to live and be there for Kim.

Over the last couple months I watched S1 and now S2 in a short time.  I gotta say I thought S2 was better.  It really had me wanting to watch the next one to see what was going to happen next.  S1, not so much, although it was a great intro into Jack Bauer and the world of CTU.

Yeah, that second third of S1, after they were extended from a 13-episode run to a 24-episode run was just a little iffy, but the first and last thirds of it were the show at some of its best moments, in my opinion.  Even the best seasons (my current favorites were S5 and S7) had a few iffy episodes really, but still overall the rest makes up for that.

To me this show really had no weak episodes because of the way it's structured, since it's all one continuous event that spans the entire day it spills from one into the next into the next and is quite remarkable in it's ability to make it actually feel like one single 24 span of time.

My fav seasons are seasons 1, 5 and 7.

Inspector Hammer, no it's not.  Just that I recently decided to re-watch and went through S1 and S2 so far, in a relatively short time, (much less than when it aired).  I haven't seen either since orginal airing.  Usually I watch one episode a day, during lunch, and every so often, a second episode in the evening.  So I would say I saw each season over about 3 weeks.  This is when the differences between S1 & S2 really stood out for me.  Don't take this wrong, I still liked S1, but I felt more compelled, and I think the show had a tighter storyline for S2, (except for Kim and all the crap that befell her ... and it not having anything to do with the main arc, really ... like why was Gary Matheson so whacked and why did he kill his wife).

Not to be a pessimist but I think you may find it a different experience when watching the show one episode a week. I love the series but every season there are some rocky patches* that probably fly by when you watch them on DVD because you can go right to the next episode. When you don't have the ability to watch the next episode immediately, it can be a different animal because you have a week to think about how relatively slow it was and to read all the "Wahhh! 24 jumped the shark this week!" comments online.

* Usually after a story arc ends, the next episode or two seems slow because they're starting a new part of the story.
