Farrah Fawcett in Sunburn - Why no DVD?

With Farrah Fawcett's passing, I went to add Sunburn to my Netflix queue and found that it, as far as I can tell, has never been released on DVD. Anyone have any idea why not?
Thanks.

Probably cause its owned by either the original distributor Paramount, who put it out on VHS/Beta and LD, or the rights reverted back to Hemdale, whom MGM now controls, or it went back to ITC, who still controls the TV rights (recent cable showings ended with ITC), if so, then Lions Gates controls it now. Confusng, isn't it?

Re: Farrah Fawcett in Sunburn - Why no DVD?

Paramount's first DVD for WAYNE'S WORLD featured an Easter Egg which involved scenes from SUNBURN, which would indicate they still control U.S. DVD rights. I'm not sure my friend Walt is correct, seeing as how before Viacom owned Paramount, they initially controlled TV rights to SUNBURN through their own deal with Hemdale; they also co-produced HIGH RISK with them, and handled TV syndication for MELODY.

I suspect music rights is keeping SUNBURN off R1 DVD - among other things, the closing credits features Paul McCartney's "With a Little Luck," and McCartney songs don't come cheap.

Although it is Paramount. There are still many of their late 70's / early 80's films that have never made it to DVD. They tried to do that deal with Legend, letting them release a few of them, but I guess that didn't work out.
