Since our family wants to eat in the HT, we are thinking of a laminate floor. The problem is the "brightness" of a huge hard surface.
From what I have read from Wayne, floor carpeting is about all you really need to handle the sound absorbtion in a normal HT, but with pergo, things change.
Here is what we are thinking...this week. Your input would be appreciated.
BTW, HT is 22 long, 10 wide and 7 high (attic space above garage)
Pergo flooring, nice glue down type carpet as a 3 ft high wainscotting on both walls, chair rail above that for molding and then 4 ft of painted surface where we would hang homemade fiberglass panels. This space would allow us to add or subtract how ever many panels as needed. We hope the carpet areas on the walls, combined with potential panels, and sofas/throw pillows/area rug will make up for the expanse of hard flooring.
