Re: dvd player and reciever ?

It is the wrong area, but welcome anyway. It sounds like what you're looking for is a region free player that will play DivX. There are two ways to do this. One is to find a DivX compatible player that can be region hacked; the other is to find a region-free player that will play DivX. Oppo makes great region free players that won't break the bank, like this one: OPPO DV-980H 1080p Up-Converting Universal DVD Player with HDMI and 7.1CH Audio

As well, this one upconverts over HDMI, which I'm assuming your Samsung has. If so, you may want consider getting a receiver that accepts HDMI, as it reduces the number of cables you're running, and new receivers that decode the advanced audio available on Blu-Ray are quite reasonable in price ($500 and up), so you would be future proofing yourself for when you decide to make the jump to HD. Last, but not least: if you do make the jump to HDMI, DO NOT BUY MONSTER CABLES! They are overpriced and you can get better deals online from places like Blue Jeans Cables. Hope this helps you out.
