Thanks for the code as I was able to buy "Gone with the Wind", "Lord of the Rings Trilogy" and "Sarah Connors Chronicles Season 2" for $47.66 tax included for each item with free shipping.

Warner "Looking Into" Standard BD Release

The issue of a deluxe OZ set vs. a regular one came up at the last Warner Home Video chat. The Warner rep said they "were looking into" putting out a regular edition of OZ.

Excuse me, but that was several months ago. There would have been sufficient time to announce both editions by now.

My solution? I'm hoping that a regular edition is released in the UK. Warners releases are usually always region free.

_________________________________

It seems the 25% off code is stackable with a B2G1 code, and to my surprise, the order formated so that the free title got taken from both price groupings- rather than the two least priced titles being free. This may be due to the fact that I put these titles in the cart in the exact order of shown here in this invoice.
In any case- while I detest these Box O' Junk releases, and was easily going to pass on the theatrical cuts of LOTR, This price just seems like too good a deal to waver and waffle on. I made an earlier oder tonight using the 30% off code for GWTW, Watchman, Contact, and New World that came to $107. That was a decent enough deal- but for $60 more (NYS Tax included!) I'm now getting LOTR and WoO.

This is more like it.

_________________________

Just for reference- the two codes I used were
XB692 (25%off)
783A42xp (B2G1)

I used the 25% off code after the first item was in the cart, and used the B2G1 code prior to checking out.

Such a decision was likely above their authority, and all they were indicating was that they would pass the word upstairs, and the marketing people probably overruled them.

Brandon,

I also tend to agree that there was probably a lot of red tape involved
in the decision making process to put out just one sku of this title.

Paul

What are the latest coupon codes that are working for you and
where did you buy? If I can get TWOO and GWTW for at least
30% off then I will make the purchase.

Re: WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary UCE (DVD/Blu-ray)

As others have noted, none of the 25%/30% coupons seem to work on Wizard of Oz.
The way to get around this is to use the coupons for other items in the order and then add on a Buy 2 Get 1 free coupon to the order right before you checkout.
The msrp on the order I posted above was close to $370 which means I'm getting (if it goes through) about 54% off everything.

Those "wbsurvey" coupons are handed out in exchange for answering surveys in WB Shop emails. If you want to get the coupons ASAP, just sign up for their email. (And, you know, fill out the little survey like they ask. )

Re: WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary UCE (DVD/Blu-ray)

I must be doing something wrong. I applied the two codes, and it shows "applied" for the 25% off for both Lord of the Rings and Gone with the Wind. I also have Wizard of Oz selected and shows 25% off not applied and the B2G1 shows not applied on all 3. Any thoughts on what I may be doing wrong?

Warner reads just about every related thread on this forum.

If anyone is getting around their survey codes (which up until this
point I had no idea you had to take a survey), they will put a stop
to it. This may be why some of you are having problems.

Re: WHV Press Release: The Wizard of Oz 70th Anniversary UCE (DVD/Blu-ray)

I tried a few of these coupon games. Can't get any of those combos to work. It will apply the 25% coupon, but not the B2G1 coupon no matter what I try. Waste of my time.

I continue to be completely underwhelmed with Warner's wbshop website. Just horribly designed and executed.

It might not have anything to do with the website, but Warner closing the discount loop on those expensive boxsets.

They read the forum, but some corporate decisions are in concrete until the market forces change in those decisions.

Well, if nothing else then, they might get a proper perspective on why sales for TWoO on BD aren't what they expected they might be (if, indeed, that becomes the case). And they might then be able to make a proper adjustment.

This is from someone who has yet to buy Casablanca on BD and won't be buying this deluxe edition of The Wizard of Oz on BD (and I can only imagine how nice it will look and sound).

That reminds me. We still don't know if the Dolby TrueHD track on the BD is 5.1 only...or if they will also be including a 1.0 lossless track?

It is nice to know that Warner Brothers reads the feedback here. Like Mike Frezon, I have not purchased Casablanca yet and will also pass on The Wizard of Oz and Gone With The Wind until "trimmed down" packages are offered. Hopefully, the feedback will help the studio in deciding to offer such products.

Though they haven't issued a press release yet, it appears Gone With The Wind will be released using the Wizard of Oz model IE a 2 disc SD, Collector's Edition SD, and Collector's Edition blu-ray. This assumption is based on what is being offered at the WB shop.

It depends if the person making the final decision is actually reading the forum!? If any of these titles are released in other regions with a more affordable price tag then perhaps those sales figures in comparison to what's sold in America with this $60+ price tag will give that person some hard feedback. Take that for what it's worth.

I can only speculate as to what little bauble will be included in the GWTW box to compete with the Wizard of Oz watch: Perhaps a radish? An imitation wedding ring suitable for donating "to the cause"? I don't think they could fit a red silk taffeta petticoat in each box.

It would be even better if they just ditched the "coupon" and provided an edition of Ben-Hur for under $40 retail.
