On the old HTF site, I liked the fact that the threads on a main page in a forum showed you how many pages of replies there were.  I used that feature all the time because I didn't like clicking into a thread and having to click page after page to get where I wanted to be.  For the most part I could go right to the exact page I wanted, unless it was a very large thread.

Will we have that again?

Also, it was much easier to differentiate between threads replied to yesterday and threads replied to today due to using a bold font on today's date.

You know, if Ronbo and Parker want more advert revenue maybe they should consider buying out this small HT forum.

I've been going back to school and haven't had nearly as much time to hang out here as I used to, but I just have to say there needs to be an option at least to have messages displayed the old way, and to turn that floating "Other Threads" thing off.  I can see how it might be useful to some people, but to me it's annoying and wastes too much screen space- when the messages are confined to a smaller space, the more scrolling I have to do, and the more scrolling I have to do, I get angry, and when I get angry.....

I was going to answer some questions, but I first have a question of my own: how does "multi-quote" work? It's "undiscoverable". Pushing the multi-quote button does nothing.

Click the "last post button" to the left of the title. Takes you to where you left off reading. Just in like in the previous HTF forum. Or click the thread title in your "Home Page" subscription list to pick up where you left off.

You just click the "multi-quote" button for each post you want to quote, and then click the "quote" button on one of the posts and you get what you see in this post of mine.

Thanks.

And that's a completely weird and unfindable way to work. Reminds me of the puzzles to the old Infocomm puzzles :)

I see that even though we have upgraded software, TonyD is still having problems with the "b" button on his keyboard.

I was completely lost on how to use this feature as well.

New question: Many times after I post when I hit the button to go back to the forums the screen just brings me back to my completed post. Any one else having this problem?

What "button" are you pressing?  If you're just pressing the browser's "back" button, that's where you should end up.

I have to be honest and tell you that I already find myself visiting the site less since the changes. I have my default page set to New Posts, because that is what I have always found to be the most interesting way for me to browse. I do miss the disc reviews that were down the right-hand side on the old format.  If someone could tell me how to get to that page, I would appreciate it. And, yes, I do find the new space on the right to be sort of a waste, and would have no use for the floating box.

Good to see you back, SuperTed. You've probably helped answer some of my questions at TCF (upgraded from a Tivo S2DT to two TivoHDs this year :))

You were always so popular, we figured we didn't need to.  You were probably just besieged by fans.

Is there a way to make threads "sticky" in the new interface?  I don't see anything.  How am I supposed to follow the "watch all your BDs in 2009" thread as I fail miserably at the task?

Not yet, Aaron.  It has been discussed in the Observations and Features threads.

Not sure what the outcome will be.  There was talk that instaed of moderators making threads sticky, they may turn them into wikis.  Not sure how popular an idea that is.

As for allowing individual members to sticky their own threads to the top of a sub-forum, the response has been unclear as to whether that feature will return.

I have been lobbying for a return of the feature which allowed members to createtheir own list of "favorite" threads--which used to be seen on the old UserCP.  I found that device extremely useful.  It was great having a designated place where you could quickly find the threads to which you commonly-referred.

Well it has been over 6 weeks since the HTF 2.0 hit. It definitely hit harder than I expected.  I see many recovery efforts in process, but there is still much work to be done. How are you guys holding out? Still got enough salsa and silica supplies?

Must admit I've been lucky when it comes to ads on the forum, no ghastly teeth ads or Amex counting meters just the usual FHM ads featuring nubile young ladies in various stages of undress... no, I kid... I get a Wynn ad at the top and a fiber optic broadband ad in the great white abyss to the right here and at the bottom of the page a RAM ad.

6 Weeks and it all looks exactly the same to me, more readable and not as bright perhaps but still the same thing we saw on that fateful day in early July... I remember back on the old forum when Parker would change the colour scheme to coincide with an upcoming movie or dvd, and people complained... [wipes tear]
