I'm surprised we don't have a thread going. Well, not really. But I'm enjoying this season so far, and thought last nights ep - of a bridge builder - was some pretty good stuff.

I'm not surprised, since the thread on last season didn't even make it to page 2. I guess this is just one of those shows that simply won't generate much discussion.

But I've been watching, and will always be 1 week behind, since I'm following the show on Hulu. So the last episode I would have seen is "One Night Stan".

I think episodes where they focus on her family really tend to drag

Hey, anything that keeps Nichole Hintz on screen is good in my book. I actually like the family stuff, as it is one of the things that sets the show apart from 50 other police shows of one kind or another. And I liked the fact that the resolution to Brandi's problem surprised me. There were serveral more obvious directions they could have gone in (like adding some phony suspense by having suspicion fall on the boyfriend and stretching it to a two-parter, or having the FBI agent turn out to be dirty and only interested in getting the drugs back.)

I'm really enjoying the show, but there's just less about each episode that feels like it needs to be discussed. The stories are well-told and well-played and provide for an enjoyable hour of TV, but I don't feel as compelled to write about it as I do with other shows. That said I was glad to see Laura Prepon last week (she does look a little like Mary McCormack) and I think this will be an interesting story thread.

Re: In Plain Sight S2

While I agree that Mary's mother tends to drag the show down (no offense to Ms. Warren) I thought last night's episode was one of the best episodes of the season. There was real tension for me in this one - how was it all going to get sorted out, was Raph going to say something about what he did, was Peter's lawyer gonna pull some fancy, high-priced move to help Brandi, etc....Mary showed that she cares for her sister, instead of having to blow her off like she has to do most times.

Marshal continues to shine, too.

Now I keep wondering if Mr. FBI will get Mary's house fixed or will Peter step in and get it fixed for Brandi.

Mary showed that she cares for her sister, instead of having to blow her off like she has to do most times.

And she also showed some genuine compassion for the FBI pr*ck by not dropping the information about the real reason he missed the drug bust in front of the US Attorney (or in an anonymous call to his boss.) She showed an unusual degree of impulse control there. She also tried to apologize to the New Girl on the Block (and was rightly rebuffed.) Her treatment of their assistant is one of the less lovely aspect of Mary's personality, especially after she's spent weeks going out of her way to help everyone in the office.

I have to admit, part of me was hoping the FBI guy would turn out to be dirty the and episode would end with him in cuffs doing the perp walk, but I think the actual ending was more satisfying.

And then there's the mystery of who did plant the bug at Mary's place. Lauren? The FBI guy running rogue? Peter? Someone else on behalf of Daddy? The thing was wireless, which means it has a limited range, not tied into power, and relatively small - which makes for limited battery life. It can't have been there for more than a few months, and there would have to be a listening post, a recorder or a repeater fairly close to Mary's house.

Interesting stuff...

The writing in the "cliffhanger" here is really bad (IMHO) as it was last year.

I may be alone, but it appears to me that

Warning Spoiler! Click to show
The witness she was protecting likely shot her to protect "her people" living in the neighborhood.  And I have no idea what to make of that story other then she's a crazy bitch and totally unworthy of any sympathy.  Despite that she's supposed to be a great liberator in another country.

I thought the same thing, until they found a shell casing and powder burns by a tree, and said she couldn't have seen the shooting.

Was it me, or was there a little "something" going on between Mary and the witness?
