I agree that picture isn't worth it, but if your sound system allows listening to HD audio, the difference in sound may be worth it to you. While I love an HD picture, to me, the audio is more important............

Interesting point, Ed. Could you please detail the audio-specific differences between BD and DVD? DVDs support DD5.1, I know, and just from a quick bit of reading it appears that BD supports stuff that seems "better than that". (Though, even the next audio system I plan on buying will still be, at best, DD5.1, so I'm not sure I'll be benefitting from the "better" sound options available through BD.)

It's not the number of speakers, it's the lossless audio.

Not exactly the perfect comparison, but think CD-quality vs. mp3. Or in video terms, 1080p vs. 720p. More detail.
