I recently bought the Denon PMA1500AE as I thought the stereo performance of the 3803 could be improved. The PMA1500AE does indeed a much better job at it. However for HT usage I still use the 3803. To do so, it is connected the 3803 via the fronts pre-out connectors to the pre-ins of the PMA1500AE. When the P.Direct button is used on the PAM1500 the volume can be controlled by the 3803.

My problem is when the P.Direct button is pressed and the volume of the 3803 is completly turned off, some noise is noticeable. When turning up the volume, from the first step on (-80dB) an additional very low volume humming is added to the noise. Also there is an occasional 'tick' noticeable. Everything else works as expected. When played at hiogh volumes the noise and tick is barely noticeable.

Has anybody else had this experience or some ideas what can be done about it? I guess the pre-outs on the 3803 are not the quality level as one would them expected to be.
