A Nielsen ratings VP defends the ratings system

Over at HuffPo, Susan Whiting, Vice Chair and Executive Vice President of the Nielsen Company, has posted a brief op/ed today, May 28, 2009, that seems to be about... well I better not attempt to characterize it since my own sentiments are that Nielsen is becoming less accurate by the day.

Anyhow, check it out, and note that another Nielsen VP seems to be reading the comments and replying sometimes. Seems to be a good opportunity to have their ear.

Re: A Nielsen ratings VP defends the ratings system

With time all television should end up as internet streaming content. Then the ratings will be very accurate.

The only barrier is households with good broadband connections. Streaming television give everyone the best of TiVO and the networks can keep their advertising money.

If you think about it TiVO is no good to advertisers since everyone fast forwards commercials, but the biggest draw is not zipping through commercials but being able to watch shows when you want. Streaming internet will have both.

The networks have to see this.
