This really looks awful. Might try one or two episodes, but doubtful.

I'll also try out Big Brother in July for a bit, otherwise no reality TV for me until the next Survivor.

If you don't like Reality TV, then don't bother watching. And please don't bother posting in this thread -- go to the SNL thread and write about how the show used to be good back in the day but the new cast sucks now. Get over yourself -- I don't care about your thesis that reality TV is the new bread & circuses and the preamble to armageddon. Go threadcrap elsewhere.

And if you like Reality TV but only watch the "smart" ones, then don't bother with this one. IACGMOOH is pure trash. It's no better than The Hills (and probably no less scripted). Let's just get that out of the way.

I didn't think I'd even remotely like this show, but the fact that there's nothing on but reruns and the fact that Spencer is like the second coming of Coach, this show is perversely entertaining. I'm sure 90% of the goings on are staged, but it's such a trainwreck that I can't look away. We'll see how the later shows go -- will they have enough material without the 48 hour lead time? And what happens after Spencer gets voted off? Will the oddly quiet Janice Dickenson step up?

This may have been better as a two or three day a week show just to get more material (Unless, you know, they have scripts in the can. Or if this had been pre-rcorded on a soundstage and it isn't actually live). I'm also afraid that airing 4 consecutive days will not manufacture enough material for each night, and viewer fatigue is always a danger. As entertained as I was, listening to Spencer throw a shit-fit every day will grow old really fast.

BTW, Spencer's rant to Ben Silverman about his relative level of celebrity over the phone was gold. Pure, f*cking GOLD.

I have to say last night's episode was pure brilliance on many levels.

I mean, Spencer calling Ben Silverman????? "Sorry to interrupt your dinner"

Spencer to Heidi "This is the first time you cried on camera when you weren't acting."

Spencer to the wrestler "I had to Google you to see who you were."

Love or hate Spencer, he makes for great TV.

As for the 4 nights a week, they had too much for the 2 hours last night. The live challenge was cut off there was so much going on.

The first version of this show was a trainwreck. This is a trainwreck for different reasons.

I believe they cut it off on purpose so that 1) there would be a cliffhanger to lead into tomorrow's show, and 2) so that they could edit the hell out of the conclusion to give it more punch and to stretch it out and intersperse commercials without the fear that someone would bail during a break. And more importantly, as an endurance challenge, the length of the contest is indeterminable, so editing is required.

What I find funny about the challenge is that it's all psychological -- none of the contestants can actually see anything form their perspective, and since they were allowed to wrap themselves up in their hoods, they can't feel anything. It would have been funny to hook up monitors above their heads so they could see the bugs crawling around them.

ETA: How in the shitter is NBC that the president of the network has to take a call from a douchebag like Spenser Pratt? Steve Carrell, yes. But Spenser Pratt? Really? Holy shit! NBC is majorly doomed.

Also, I went to Costa Rica for my honeymoon, and you could literally walk two blocks form the hotel and be in the thick of the rainforest. There are rumors that the IACGMOOH set is actually behind a hotel, and that the "trek into the jungle" was staged. The hotel is on the other other side of the bridge Spenser keeps crossing.

And the limits of Spenser's douchiness are bottomless. Douchiest moment -- Spenser admitting he and Heidi picked popular charities so that it wouldn't matter much to them if the duo quit. Wow.

It was weird seeing Spencer acting all Stepford Hubby-to-be-ish on the finale of The Hills just to convince people from Heidi's life to show up for their wedding. Glad to see that it was all an act, and he's back to being the biggest reality TV douche.

From what I have seen of "Speidi", I am proud to be able to say my question was genuine - Spencer exudes levels of "douche" that would make Brett Michaels jealous.

Who would have thought that one of the Baldwin Boys would be the steady calming influence?

What's up with Sanjaya practically jumping at the chance to give Lou Diamond Phillips a foot massage? That was skeevy...couple that with his impressive ability to play "hide the iguana tail" and one begins to make assumptions....

So, will the winning team blow off the rules all the time - what's the point?

I didn't watch the show...But, my wife did. And what annoys me is that they have Blago's wife on and from the one scene I did see. All of the contestants were all "poor Blago". Why are they helping a person who betrayed the trust of those who elected him. He or his wife should never be on these shows.

The bizarre thing is that Spencer and Baldwin, the two "conservatives", were the ones rallying behind the former Democratic Governor. Also, you could clearly see (if Lie To Me has taught me anything) that Patty was lying by touching her face and looking away as she proclaimed her husband's innocence. And as I understand it, the two children's initiatives that Patty bragged about, for healthcare and education, were both failures as Blago didn't actually have any way of funding them. Both pieces of legislation were just for show.

I remember a time when you actually had to have a modicum of talent to get famous!!!
But the joke's on me, as I tuned in... ha

Was hoping for a Celebrity Survivor type show, but this thing is so poorly produced w/D-list talent, I guess it'll be trainwreck TV for a few weeks.
Nothing else new to DVR, so I'll see how long before I scratch my eyes out.

I'll have to agree with Hanson, there have been some comedic gold moments in this show.
Unintentionally of course, but man, I got quite a few chuckles out of the 2nd night.

I've only watched a few minutes, but there don't seem to be any actual "celebrities" on this show (save for, maybe, Lou Diamond Phillips).

Since when are governors' spouses "celebrities"?

And if they allow Spencer back, I hope he gets bitten by something with exceptionally painful venom. Though I did find it funny that he seemed to be threatened by the possibility of Sanjaya getting close to Heidi. He's apparently a very insecure guy.

I watched Wednesday night's episode...what a complete yawn! If the Pratt's get back on...and you KNOW they will...I will continue to watch for the "trainwreck" factor. Surprisingly, Janice isn't as entertaining as I'd hoped, but then agin she looks like she's about 170 years old.

It appears my fears have been realized -- the episodes have been slack with the <24 hour editing time. There's a little bit of good stuff here and there, but three unmemorable shows finish out the week. The other problem with the 4 nights a week sched is that if you miss a show and want to get back on track, the timing is brutal. I screwed up my DVR scheduler so I missed Tuesday. No problem, I'll watch on Hulu on Wed. Except that Wipeout and SYTYCD take up my TV time. So I have to back to back to back on the remaining shows tonight.

And as much as those food challlenges are rinky dink compared to Survivor, the lamest part is the actual reward -- the portions are small and the actual foods are run of the mill (when they uncover the plate of food, I tend to roll my eyes at the meagerness). Runner up in the lameness is the fact that no one is really starving, so what's the big deal about winning some extra food? And if the guys are sharing with the girls anyway, the whole thing is shrug-worthy.

If the show doesn't pick up next week, it's gettin' the axe. I've got backlogs of shows from last season as well as movies to watch, so I'm more than willing to cut the show loose and move on.

The hosts are brutal, and Janice looks like a melting wax figure of Jocelyn Wildenstein.

Hanson, you have pretty much summed it up. This show has grown tiresome and while the premise has never done anything but suggest "stupid", it has now reached beyond that to the point of insult.

Hmmmm...so there wasn't ANY time in Thursday night's show to squeeze in the result of the group's decision as to whether or not to let the Pratts back in. Whatever...

And I'm not sure that this "jungle" is very amenity-free: has anyone else noticed that after four days out there all the guys are still clean-shaven?

Anyone still watching? I mean, I wouldn't blame anyone for quitting on the show.

There was a lot of offscreen drama over the weekend (more drama than the show can manufacture), and it, of course, involves Heidi and Spencer. The duo made it back to the jungle only to have Heidi rushed to the hospital to get treatment from an ulcer.

Now, it's difficult to separate the truth from fiction -- Speidi's side claims that they were tortured in a locked room without food and water for three days while NBC says it was only 8-14 hours with food and water given to them. The added layer here is how much of this is created to hype the show and how much more or less actually happened. There are reports that NBC is holding the duo under the threat of a breach of contract suit -- however, it is clear that any celeb can leave the show voluntarily (which is exactly what Frances did on Monday), so my take is that all of this stuff is being created by the publicity machine and they convenietly take Speidi out periodically so they are immune from elimination voting. It was also reported that the original vote by the castmates was nay on Speidi's return. They were then told to take them back.

Last night's show was a distinct improvement over the Tues-Thurs shows. They are skipping tonight for the Stanley Cup Finals, so it's possible that tomorrow's show will be an improvment over last week's Wed show going by the theory that the more time they get to edit a larger amount of material makes for a better show.

I can't say that I like the show, but I'm getting some enjoyment from attempting to figure out which parts are real and which parts are fake. Skipping the recaps and the host blather (and the 3.5 minute commerical breaks) tightens the show up considerably. My wife was going to tidy the apartment as I was watching, but ended up sitting through most of the show. Daniel Baldwin has surprisingly added a lot to the show -- he's waaay more interesting than his "little" brother. But Sanjaya is still the most compelling contestant on the show -- Janice's attempts at drama just come off as hackneyed bitchery. Watching Sanjaya morph into Mowgli is actually watchable, but the producers don't give him enough to do and are stuck cobbling together various petty arguments and calling it "drama". *Yawn*.

The biggest problem with this show is that it has already fallen into a samey pattern. I may end up only watching the Monday shows at this point.

And Torrie Wilson looks so different on the show without all the makeup. On the show, she looks like Heidi Klum with bad skin -- but after generous applications of foundation and spackle, she looks nothing like that in pubilicty pictures. Not only does Torrie look like Heidi, but she sounds like her too -- whenever she talks, I hear a faint German accent that doesn't actually exist.
