General Subwoofer Calibration/Gain Question

Hello all. As I increase the gain on my SVS 10" box sub, the SPL meter reading definately increases with it. However, the volume to my ears doesn't seem to increase as with my other speakers (eg. L/R/C). Sure, the "boominess" can be felt more as I crank it up, but the volume seems to be the same. Is this normal with the lower frequencies? Thanks!

Re: General Subwoofer Calibration/Gain Question

Absolutely normal. Everyone hears differently but most are less sensitive to low frequency volume changes. That's why you will see people running their subs 3db, 5db and even 10db hotter than their other speakers.
