The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

The Specials

--Amazon.com is featuring exclusive releases on Seasons 1 & 2 of The Guild this week.

--Best Buy has a number of discrepancies again, this week, between their online prices and flyer prices. Flyer prices are above. Some on-line prices are: Fanboys $13.99, Friday Night Lights: S3 $18.99, Batman Blu $23.99, A Bug’s Life Blu $27.99.

--Best Buy also has the release date of Spy Game (BD) as 5-26-09 when most everyone else has it for this week (5-19-09). I included the BB.com price above anyway.

--Best Buy, this week, has an EXCLUSIVE FREE TRUE BLOOD T-SHIRT when you buy True Blood: Season 1. HBO’s hottest new drama...

--Get FREE $50 ONLINE GIFT CARD FOR SIDESHOW COLLECTIBLES when you buy T2 – Judgment Day: Skynet Edition on Blu-ray @ Best Buy. On package. Minimum 5 per store. Redeem online at sideshowcollectibles.com.

--Best Buy is advertising FREE MOVIE CASH FOR PIXAR’S UP!included with their copies of A Bug’s Life on Blu-ray. I am guessing this is certainly not exclusive to BB. Movie cash value is $7.50. Movie cash is valid 5-29-09 thru 7-5-09. Minimum 5 per store.

--To go along with this week’s quick turnaround release of 24: Season 7, Best Buy has each of the previous seasons of 24 available for just $17.99. On DVD only. Available in-store and online at bestbuy.com.

--Best Buy Odds and Ends: Dragonball Z: Season 9 $34.99. Wrestlemania: 25th Anniversary $24.99.

--@ Target, this week, get a FREE $5 TARGET GIFTCARD with the purchase of BOTH True Blood: Season 1 (DVD only!) AND ANY ONE Charlaine Harris book (“Dead and Gone” is shown in the ad). Quantities limited. No rain checks. Terms and conditions apply to GiftCards.

--Target Odds and Ends: None this week.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

The new Liberty Valance doesn't have enough to attract me - I'll wait for the BRD. Although I could really go for a rustic wood sign reading "Ransom Stoddard - Attorney At Law".

Thanks guys! Anyone know if Season 7 of 24 includes "Redemption?" I've been holding off on it hoping they would include it (like Universal including "Razor" in one of their BSG seasons).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

Thanks guys!

I'll be picking up Friday Night Lights: Season 3. I had planned on getting A Bug's Life this week too, but, $30 for a catalog title is excessive. I don't think I paid more than $20 each for any of the other Pixar Blu-rays in my library. I will definitely sit this one out until it shows up at a more reasonable price point...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

Oh, and I'll possibly be picking up T2 in Blu, although I've heard its yet again, another title with DNR issues *sigh* Also, Man Hunt looks interesting.

After the Trek set, I didn't end up with any money left for the other stuff I wanted from last week!

I've already got "True Blood" in my Netflix queue, and maybe I'll check out "My Bloody Valentine" when I'm in the mood for a trashy remake.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

A Bug's Life is definately too expensive, and for that we can thank them for the inclusion of the digital copy which is doubtlessly upping the pricepoint. Especially for a catalog title which I already own twice (once on VHS and then upgraded to DVD), I think the digital copy is just unnessescary. However, Disney was onto something when they released WALL-E and PRINCE CASPIAN with and without the digital copy and let the consumer decide. I wish they were doing so again.

I wonder, however, if the free Pixar poster at Best Buy is applicable with the Bug's Blu-ray. If so, that (and the movie cash for Up that's included in pack) might make the blow softer - technically it is a Pixar title, but the poster offer was displayed in the ad next to the $12.99 Pixar DVDs, and the Blu-ray was displayed on a seperate page. So I dunno.

Big release day: I will definately be picking up FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS season 3 now. A BUG'S LIFE and T2 will either be now or later depending on funds, and eventually 24 SEASON 7, though I still need to finish watching Season 6 so I'll wait on it. Hopefully it includes the REDEMPTION TV movie so I don't need that seperately (although since the finale doesn't air until Monday, it doesn't surprise me that Fox has apparently not sent review discs.)

\"Lot 666 then: a chandelier in pieces. Some of you may recall the strange affair of The Phantom of the Opera, a mystery never fully explained. We are told, ladies and gentelmen, that this is the very chandelier which figures in the famous disaster. Our workshops have repaired it and fitted up...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

Big week for me. I'll definitely be picking up A Bug's Life, Teminator 2 and 24: Season Seven on Blu-ray. If I've got the extra money, I'll probably grab True Blood too.

Thanks for the prices, guys!

Only Bug's Life from BB with the ticket for Up. Yeah, that's a bit high for a catalogue flick, but I'm a sucker.

Based on plugging in the SKU # for the poster (9329292) on BB's website and then clicking on the appropriate link(s), it appears that the poster offer applies only to certain titles:

Quote:
Offer applies only to the select titles listed. Excludes prior purchases. May not be valid in combination with other offers.

The "select titles listed" is based on the following (also taken from BB's website):

Quote:
Add some magic and pizzazz to your collection with these adventures from Disney-Pixar. For a very limited time, the titles shown below are yours for only $12.99 each.

Plus, when you order one of these family-friendly animated classics, you can grab a free Disney-Pixar poster.

Follow these steps:

1. Select your movie below. (Side note--none of the movies listed are Blu-ray versions)
2. Select the poster.
3. Click the Add Items to Cart button.

Granted that the above is based upon ordering online, one could assume that the terms may not apply towards in-store purchases; however, since there were no terms explicitly mentioned in the ad, BB could argue that the terms mentioned online could apply towards in-store purchases as well (since the terms don't mention that the offer applies towards online purchases only).

Just speculation on my part, that's all...

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

All over 24 S7 - I didn't even know it was coming out this week.

Bug's Life - Love to get it but like you guys it's too much for this title.

T2 Head LE - Would totally love this but WAY out of my budget

FNL S3 - Will probably get this as well as I love this show. I have already seen all of S3 though but $18 it is a pretty good price.

Hey, Judy! Welcome to the HTF. Glad you like the Weekly Roundup.

C'mon back anytime. We're here each week!

Seriously, though. Hope you like it here. There's a bunch of cool people here (present company excepted ) who have lots of information on the HT hobby. Good luck!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

I have so many different versions of T2 but I think I'll pick it up given I did not get the previous release. Is DNR Abuse going to be the achilles heel of this format much as Edge enhancement was for DVD?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-19-2009

The movie cash for UP is worth $8.50.

Edit: just got back from Best Buy and you get the poster w/Bug's Blu. Actually on the box the posters were in it states "any Pixar DVD or Blu-ray" or words to that effect.

So for $30: Bug's Blu, $8.50 towards an UP ticket and a pretty cool poster (22"x32") of one sheets for all 10 Pixars. Pretty good deal I think and Bug's is my least favorite Pixar (never even owned it on dvd).

Mike- thanks for mentioning today's release of PP. I visited a store here in NYC and copies are flying off the shelves!
Bring "The continuing story of PEYTON PLACE" home on DVD: the one that started it all- from Dallas and Dynasty to Desperate Housewives and Gossip Girl!!! Starting this May, see the legendary saga starring Mia Farrow, Ryan O'Neal, Barbara Parkins, and Oscar-winner Dorothy Malone on DVD thru Shout!...

Shucks, Charles...it's what I do. Peyton Place was ground-breaking stuff in its day.

Copies must be flying off shelves in NYC because I featured them at the top of the RoundUp! The power of the WRU! It's hard, sometimes, keeping myself in check...

Brett: Thanks for the correction on the value of the Up! movie cash. I could have sworn the BB flyer said $7.50.
