Re: *** Official ANGELS & DEMONS Discussion Thread

I'll probably check this film out today since I have a free ticket for it from the Da Vinci Code Blu-ray release.

Yawn. How did Ron Howard take two page turners and make them boring? If you did't like DaVinci Code you won't like Angels and Demons.

Re: *** Official ANGELS & DEMONS Discussion Thread

Weirdly enough, the film does run out of a sense of urgency in the latter half as it goes through the motions of following the clues to find where each cardinal was situated to die in spectacular fasion.

I know I'd be hustling if cardinals were dying on each hour on the hour leading up to midnight, but the script and directorial choices have far too leisurely a pace, and Tom Hanks didn't bring much to the table in this film.

Then again, I did enjoy staring at Ayelet Zurer (Vittoria) while she was on the screen.

I agree - on both points.

Re: *** Official ANGELS & DEMONS Discussion Thread

I liked it. While it never got as boring as The Da Vinci Code (where characters would literally sit down and take ten minutes to explain story points), it still felt rather long. Still, it's an entertaining movie. I watched the Da Vinci Code the night before and I felt Howard showed much more directorial strength here than he did with that film.

And, yes, Ayelet Zurer was beautiful.

Re: *** Official ANGELS & DEMONS Discussion Thread

Felt really long. Some characters were really dissappointing. I say this not as a slap to either venture, but it felt like a presentation of "The Librarian" without the funny quips.

Yes, I know, I know.. but it dragged on with goofy minutia, but took all of that too seriously.

Wow, I just saw this on DVD and was expecting to come here and read pages of discussion.  I guess the movie just generate much discussion.  I thought it was okay, but I agree that movies that should be slam dunks seem to be lacking.
