Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

Last time I received Turner Classic Movies (two years ago), they only flashed their station logo bug in the bottom right corner for about ten seconds every fifteen minutes. I have heard this may have changed, and that they now have it permanently embedded on the screen. True, or not?

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

I no longer subscribe to Cable, so I can't help you here. The Station Logos never bothered me, however the Pop-Ups, Scrolls and Banners, along with all the other interruptions, (Ok TCM didn't have those) are what got me to CANCEL my Subscription!

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

Not true with TCM. The station bug still pops up every 20 minutes, and that's it.

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

I've actually unconsciously trained myself to ignore excess "stuff" that pops up. Not sure how it happened, but I just look "through" the junk, doesn't even register with me. If TCM is doing it, I don't notice.

Backfires once in a while with shows like Heroes when they use subtitles, but I realize what's happening and readjust what I pay attention to while they're on.

Then right back to invisible mode.

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

One of the current worst station bugs is Disney's XDHD. Thing thing is NOT on the side bottom...it is almost in the middle of the screen up from the bottom edge more than usual and the thing is frickin huge and not all transparent. You can see through the whitened big bold letters....but everything is outlined in thick black lines and it is really a disaster of an idea. And it is on there then entire time except during commercials. (How ironic)

I don't understand how anyone there can think this is a good idea. It is nice to see some of Disney's older animated films shown in full HD...but not with this bug on the screen. ugh!

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

Given that the bulk of their program library is cartoon shows from the 90's, I didn't think Disney XD was in HD? It's coming through as an SD digital channel on my system...

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

On DirecTV the channel is available in HD...and since many of the old animated features were shot on film...they have transitioned nicely to HD resolution.

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

Count me among those outraged by these graphics.

TLC is now getting almost as graphics-crazy as the major networks.

They'll have their T:C bug in the lower right only to then put another bug around it promoting an upcoming show--AND LEAVE IT THERE! "All new Jon & Kate Plus Eight Tonight at 9ET"...or something of the sort. They'll also drop in temporary graphics into the lower left.

All very distracting and all the networks should be ashamed.

There's Jessie the yodeling cowgirl. Bullseye, he's Woody's horse. Pete the old prospector. And, Woody, the man himself. Of course, it's time for Woody's RoundUp. He's the very best! He's the rootinest, tootinest cowboy in the wild, wild west!

Re: Regarding station "bugs" and TCM

TCM still seems to do it the right way by only occasionally showing the bug. TNT's little people that walk on the screen with the graphic annoy the heck out of me.
