The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-5-2009

Considering the price, is it safe to assume the new TCM sets are repackaged versions of previous releases?

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-5-2009

I went and checked: the TCM musical box contains the 1951 color Show Boat, not the 1936 James Whale B&W Show Boat.

It would appear that the TCM boxes are budget sets of re-releases.

At some point down the road I'll grab Benjamin Button BD. Enjoyable movie, but not something I need to see again right now.

Appreciate it as always, guys.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-5-2009

I went through the three-hour doc and the other extras on my review copy of Benjamin Button late last week. I've gotta say, it's worth it for the doc and commentary even if you didn't love the movie. A three-hour How David Fincher Makes Things feature is a can't-miss, and the commentary is what one would expect from Fincher. Different from my Third Man and Last Emperor Criterion discs, they split the extras onto a separate platter from the feature, which makes a bitrate fiend like me VERY happy indeed. Glad Paramount shared their little movie with Criterion.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 5-5-2009

Yet another new film being released that I want to buy yet not on Blu (WENDY AND LUCY). I doubt the PQ would make much difference on this type of film but still.

The way that trend continues, the lack of older titles and the fact that DVD-R is making a big comeback, I'm about ready to unload my relatively small Blu player and discs onto Ebay.

I just wanted to pass along to those who are planning to purchase at a B&M, the new People magazine has a $3.00 OFF manufacturer's coupon for The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button (DVD or Blu-ray.) I used it today at BB and got the Criterion Blu for $22.99 plus tax.

Thanks, Gary. I'll have to check that out!

I'm also in for Boston Legal: Season 5 (even though the show really kinda went off the deep end in it's final season).

Just saw the Becket Blu-ray on sale for $15.49 (50 cents less than the DVD!) at Amazon. Burton & O'Toole, for less than a twenty dollar bill on Blu.
