I just recently purchased a Sony Bravia XBR52 Sony BluRay BDP-S550 as the 1st step to rebuilding my HT. I'm currently running it through my older model JVC sound system with matched infinitis. I WAS going to keep my Infinitis and finish off the HT by replacing the JVC amp with one of the following model AVRs, Pioneer SC-07, SC-05 or one of the Elite models, or Denon 3808CI or 4308CI. However age has caught up with my infinitis and each took their turn in disintegrating around the outer oval edges of the cones. The short of it I decided to replace them and now have the added chore of selecting a new speaker set up as well. After much studying I have narrowed my choicess down to two Set ups. or the SVS MTS-01 5.0 which conists of 2 MTS-01 towers, one MCS-01 center, and one pair MBS-01 bookshelf speakers and adding the 20-39PC-Plus Power Cylinder Sub Woofer. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link to a page with pricing and sales here so refer to SVSs web site for details and specs.
Both are, as I understand, are compairably priced high quality mid-range speakers and are within my budget. As are both the AVRs depending on where and which i buy.. but here is where I'm hung. I can't decide. Which AVR, which speaker set up. I would like some feed back and recomendations from experienced users or knowledgable sources on the right AVR with the right Speakers as well as any info on wether a cylinder sub is really the way to go verses the standard square.
My HT area is appr. 14 x 30 ft carpeted with standard 12 ft cielings and as far as my neighbors, well lets just say I'll show them the same consideration for sound disturbence they show me.
