So is that the '09 version or the '80 version?

This would be the 09 version. The original came out two months ago.

Yeah, but with Paramount's track record of double, triple and quad dipping this thing, it's a fair enough question.

Sheesh - I just noticed the price. 30 bucks?!? WHat the hell - is the disc made of pure gold or something?!?

^$29 is a very common MSRP and no one pays MSRP.

Jason wasn't in the first (original) film anyways. Just keep your eyes open at Amazon's Marketplace as new titles drop pretty quick price-wise there.

Re: WHV Announcement: Friday The 13th Extended Killer Cut (DVD/Blu-ray)

I guess I was suffering from sticker shock because I havent bought a Big Hollywood Release in years now - it's all been cult releases from smaller studios, used titles and old televsion shows for me since 2005 or thereabouts. I dont think I've paid more than 10 or 15 bucks for a disc in a long time.

The 09 movie was released domestically in theaters (and on home video) by Warner Brothers through their New Line Cinema arm, but Paramount have international distribution rights. It was the exact opposite with the original movie.

I have to say, I enjoyed it (due to the opening day crowd reaction). I'm not a big Friday fan (I enjoyed Part VI), so I'm boggled by the die-hard fans saying it's not a true Jason film but more like a TCM movie (which Marcus Nispel directed too).

Balderdash, it has all the hallmarks of the '80s films just with (much) better production values and slightly better actors.
