Re: Harper's Island

It'd be so cliched if Wakefield was Abby's dad.

No argument from me, Patrick. Just wondering if that is the direction the show is headed.

Or it would suck it Abby has a long lost sibling/step sibling that was from Wakefield and Abby's Mom, that turns out to be one of her friends

Re: Harper's Island

My guess is that we probably haven't met the person yet...since we know that the killings revolve around Abby for some reason, and there is speculation that she may be Wakefield's daughter, I am wondering if it is possibly an aunt or uncle (her mom's brother or sister) that blame her for Abby's mother getting killed.

I also think that the wedding planner might hold a clue, but that's just me grasping at straws and trying to think of a clever angle to all this.

Re: Harper's Island

Did Henry give a clue in this episode.
When Henry was thanking Abby for giving the childhood picture to Trish.
Then Abby mentioned she also had a picture to give him with his parents and J.D.
Henry said, "Yes I want it. I don't have many pictures of my parents."

I'm thinking this mention has something to do with it.

Re: Harper's Island

I suppose right now the obvious answer is a relative of Wakefield's is exacting revenge on the Sheriff, by targeting Abby? And no doubt the answer will not be anything as straightforward.

And Henry's hands dripping with blood must be a red-herring, he was probably trying to help JD, then went to get help.

Re: Harper's Island

Yeah, I figure Henry will be cleared of any wrong-doing (at least to the audience) pretty quickly in the next episode.

I'm actually starting to wonder if it could be Booth who is the killer. I know he is supposed to be dead and all, but they could pretty easily retcon that.

Jimmy was my other prime suspect but unless he is working with someone, he seems to be accounted for when some of the killings happen, so it is becoming less likely.

Re: Harper's Island

I'm somewhat claustrophobic, so the narrow tunnel sequences in tonight's episode kind of freaked me out. Since the show has been (mostly) focusing on killing unlikeable characters, I figure Shane is a dead man.

Looks like more misdirection with the Sheriff, but I'm trying to resolve that with Madison's comments to Abby regarding the 'game'.

Maybe Madison is playing a "game" with someone else and only implicating the Sheriff.

Re: Harper's Island

You know the only one character we haven't seen much of, especially in the presence of everyone is Nikki Bolton (The Biker Chick), the one who works as a bartender in town.

She's only been in a few episodes and is never around.

I'm betting Abby isn't Wakefield's kid. It has to be someone else who is her friend who is the bastard, lost, unwanted kid.

I'm really trying to hang on with this show.
Just tell me who the lame killer is.

Really, lets get to it already. They didn't even start noticing people were missing till a couple of episodes ago, jeez. I'm watching this for my wife mostly but the eye candy has kept me at least somewhat interested.

I agree, Abby as Wakefield's daughter is just too obvious. Perhaps the actual kid discovered his/her heritage, and is indeed the relative of Wakefield exacting revenge on the Sheriff?

Re: Harper's Island

As much as I have enjoyed the show, I don't think I would pick it up on dvd. It probably doesn't have enough rewatchability.

We're through 9 episodes now, right? That means there are only 4 more to go. I would imagine things will speed up some. I would guess the big reveal will be in episode 12 so that things can be wrapped up in the last episode.

I think the blame being put on the the sherriff is definitely a red herring especially

. I'll say that if it is true that Abby is at least related to Wakefield or the killer then that would seem to rule out Jimmy; I don't think CBS would touch an incest storyline. I can't remember if there is any evidence that clearly rules out Henry, and I still think Booth could turn out to be the killer (unless his corpse shows up).

I must have missed something: was there something which says Jimmy is the son of Wakefield, or even related at all?

No, you didn't miss anything. I'm just saying that if the child of Wakefield and Abby's mother turns out to be Jimmy then it would be a little weird since he went...camping with Abby.

Re: Harper's Island

This show has become much more watchable in the last two or three episodes now that the soap opera antics have given way to the mystery/slasher elements. Excellent sequence in the tunnels.

I thought it would be her from about the fourth episode as the killer is usually someone we know but is on the periphery of the action. Her absence in the last few episodes gives her opportunity. Given the way things have gone in the last couple of shows it seems impossible for any of the people stuck in the hotel to have the opportunity to do all the recent kills.

Re: Harper's Island

Well, so much for Madison's information. I guess it is fair game to mislead the viewers via false exposition, but it certainly renders attempting to discern the nature of the mystery somewhat moot.

Having said that, I enjoyed tonight's episode and I'm curious where the show is going with Abby.

This show is damn entertaining.
I'm thinking Nikki is Wakefield's daughter and jealous of Jimmy and Abby.
She's working with her dad to off everybody.

Re: Harper's Island

I do find it strange that Nikki is showing up now of all situations/times.
Didn't get attacked or shot when walking up to the bar.
I'm thinking Nikki purposely putting herself in the situation.

But I find it very plain and boring that Wakefield being the killer/alive this whole entire time as an ending.

I thought it was quite stupid that Abby's dad tells us now, after ten episodes that "Wakefield is alive, I buried a different person."

But I'm still wondering why they gave Madison a situation like she was talking to a ghost.

Re: Harper's Island

More misdirection with Jimmy, or not?

I guess everyone has to be a piss poor shot with a shotgun or the show would be over.

The only thing Shane didn't do was cut his chest with his knife (Predator reference to Sonny Landham.)

2 weeks to the two hour finale.

Re: Harper's Island

Seriously,

Why would the sheriff have a file on Jimmy, yet save his life for his own just for his daughter. If Jimmy was really that bad, then he wouldn't have bothered saving his life.
I even hated it more when Madison looked at the file and said "Mommy, the sheriff has a file on someone else we know."
they must really think the audience is this freaking stupid and going to fall for this lame cliche BS.

Good God.

Couldn't she say "Mommy, the sheriff has a file on Jimmy."

Yet they have to phrase it like that in order to keep the audience in "suspense" for that final scene of him in the car with Trish.

I know the song was suppose to be all meaningful for the suicide scene with Chloe, but I found it extremely cheesy. "You can't have me."

and we all knew that Cal was going to die as soon as he proposed to Chloe and her saying "yes."

Biggest eye roll episode ever.

The show started out as a meh soap opera then got pretty decent but the last 2 episodes have been pretty bad. I don't like how it turns out that Wakefield was alive and been the one killing everyone all this time without any clues. I would have been more interesting if it was someone that was from the group from the start. The Dual Scream killers is just to cover up plot holes.

If the Sheriff knew Wakefield was still alive, why was he so adamant about JD taking the fall?

Wakefield has a knife and everyone else has a shotgun, yet they miss him every single time while he just stands there. Wait till he comes to you, then blow him away.

I think fishboy turning out the be the helper is a bit too forced. The groom prolly is as he is caring for Abby way to much, didnt shoot at Wakefield when he had a chance and is prolly the one who stabbed JD.

My guess is that they needed a rerun to fill the 'hole' created by the holiday and they just used the first episode to do it.
