I am thinking about buying the I Dream of Jeannie complete series. Can any one tell me if the episodes are complete or are they syndicated cut episodes?

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

The complete series is just the same DVD's in the season boxed sets. Just repackaged for the jeannie lamp set.

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

True, but be forewarned:

a.) No extras beyond what was in the original sets.
b.) All the seasons are in color vs. the first few being originally available in B&W.
c.) The packaging is God awful, so make sure none of your discs are scratched.

So little money!

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

Matt, you're incorrect, on the black and white vs color issue. The entire First Season of I Dream of Jeannie Season 1 was Black and White, not a few episodes.

But are the episodes complete or syndicated cut episodes? If the season sets are complete uncut episodes, I will go that route but I hate to buy TV sereis on DVD that have missing and cut episodes.

No cuts on single season sets means no cuts on complete series set.

They're the same discs, just repackaged.

So buy whatever you want, you're getting the same thing either way.

The only difference is, if you buy the single sets, you have the option of getting the first season in Black and White as it was originally aired, or in color. With the series box set, you get the colorized episodes and that's that.

You misunderstood what I said: I meant the first few seasons, not episodes. Couldn't remember the exact number off the top of my head.

Point still stands: only the colorized version of those seasons are in the complete set.

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

Speaking of the BW/colour issue: does anybody know if the BW season one
DVDs were truly taken from original black-and-white prints, or is this the same sort of deal as Bewitched, where all they did was "switch-off" the colour information on the colourised versions?

No I didn't misunderstand you. Only the first season was in Black and White. The second season was when they switched to color. All of Season 2 was in color because that's when all TV shows were producing in color.

You're right, I got Bewitched and Jeannie confused. Only the first season was in B&W, but in the complete set is in color.

Point stands though: it's not presented in it's original format in the complete series set.

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

Does anyone know if the episode on the season three set has been fixed on the new dvd complete set? I believe it was the Here Comes Bootsie Nightingale episode. It had an odd compression defect or something.

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

Matt, you're correct.

I Dream of Jeannie Season 1 and Bewitched Season 1 & 2 were all originally produced in black and white. When Sony opted to released both series they decided on the dumb plan to "colorize" those classic seasons.

I Dream of Jeannie the Complete Series does contain the colorize version of Season 1 and not the original black and white version.

I don't know about you guys, but I prefer the black and white versions of these shows and not the colorize version.

100% in agreement. That's the originally-produced format & that's why I'm glad I didn't wait for complete-series sets of both shows. This is one time where the Blk/Wht crowd came out ahead by getting the individual season sets.

I have to give Sony a "kudos" for offering both formats for those that preferred the colorized sets.

Re: I Dream of Jeannie complete series?

Yeah, but at the same time, Sony should have offered a black and white version of the Complete Series. I prefer my individual setsm anyways.
