The Disclaimer
Standard disclaimer: All prices are taken from the websites of each chain, or from their printed Sunday advertisements. All prices are subject to change by each chain. Prices and inventory in-store may or may not match the website price.

I, obviously, cannot include EVERY title released in a given week in the RoundUp. The titles included are those that I am interested in...as well as those which I consider will be of interest to a majority of consumers (and sometimes I’ll miss one!). I don't get paid for this, and I don't have the time to list every DVD. So, please don't complain! If there is a title not included in the RoundUp that you want to see, PLEASE just look it up yourself, and be nice enough to post and share the results with everyone!

Note that I cannot include Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club prices in the RoundUp. They set prices at individual stores based on nearby competition, so there is no way I can say here what price you'll find at YOUR local Wal-Mart/Sam’s Club location. And, Circuit City is still out of business...even in Hawaii (where they NEVER guaranteed their prices anyway).

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

As always, thanks for the Roundup, guys.

Does anybody know if "The Day the Earth Stood Still" (2008) BD comes with a DVD or BD copy of the original? I've spent 10 minues on Google and haven't been able to come up with an answer.

GO SPARTANS!!!

OK, I can answer my own question. This is from the official FOX store:

Disc 3: The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951) PS Blu-ray
English: 5.1 DTS HD Master Audio, Mono
Spanish & French: 5.1 Dolby Digital

PS? Hmmm....

I loves me some zombies.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

I think "Bedtime Stories" was released on Friday on both formats. Read about it in Variety:

Disney also stumbled last month when it attempted to stagger the release dates for its DVD and Blu-rays.

The plan was to give the pricier Blu-rays a two-day head start on store shelves. But the plan backfired with "Bolt," when Wal-mart, annoyed by the extra workload needed to manage two street dates, decided to sell both versions of the toon on the same day, angering rival retailers.

Disney has since scrapped its staggered-release plans for the Adam Sandler comedy "Bedtime Stories," originally due on Blu-ray April 5 and standard DVD on April 7. Both bowed on Fridays (perhaps trying to replicate the weekend release date success enjoyed by "Twilight").

Nothing for me this week. For those that haven't seen it, Doubt is definitely worth a rental (if only for the performances).

Thanks for the prices!

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

Thanks for the prices, guys. Getting Yes Man, Final Destination and Wedding Singer Blu-rays this week. Eventually, I'll pick up some of the other new catalog Blu-rays, and Bedtime Stories and Day the Earth Stood Still when the prices drop. And the new No Country Blu if I can sell my still-unopened original BD release.

Surprised Bedtime Stories didn't earn a picture at the top of the RoundUp. It's one of this week's bigger releases. Not a Sandler fan, Mike?
Does anyone even click on these "My Collection" links?

Maybe he's seen the movie.

I kid. I've seen it too. It's not Sandler'sKane, but it is not as bad as some might have you believe.

I think I'll just rent a few of the new releases this week and pick up Prince Caspian and Indiana Jones from Target. Assuming I can find the Blu-rays in stock.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

Seems not to be much rhyme or reason to the BD pricing. There seems to be a slew of WB/New Line catalog releases this week and it seems like half of them are at a 16.99 price at BB and the other half at a 24.99 price. Also the difference between Amazon and BB is out of whack as well. For example a minor interest title like 2010 sells for a cheap $13.99 and it's $11 more at BB.

Also it sadly seems like the weekly DVD bargains at BB have been weak since Circuit City closed down

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

Thanks for the RoundUp Mike and Patrick! The Pre-Code Hollywood Collection looks interesting but I doubt it will be available at BB or any other B&M this week (especially now that Borders B&M appears to be getting out of the media business.) I will most likely NetFlix it and if it is worth adding to the library, I will buy it online at some point down the road.

I am thinking that Best Buy doesn't feel compelled to advertise in Atlanta anymore. More often than not, no flyer in the Sunday paper these days.

Re: Weekly RoundUp 4-7-2009

Due to a lack of shelf space, I started selling my Simpsons "head" cases, so I picked up S8 this morning at Target for $12.99. They had ZERO of the other seasons, much less the advertised S10. I might stop at another store on the way home/later this week to see what season they decided to put on sale.

Tempted by Wedding Singer and American History X, but I think they'll be later purchases. Time to save up for what looks to be an expensive April (X-Men movies/TV show, Trek).

Saw the BD for this one available at J&R locally. Can't remember the price now, but it's probably over $20.

BTW, seems J&R is stocking most of those Warner/New Line catalog BD releases for $13.99 right now. I picked up American History X for that price (along w/ a couple other titles) -- I hadn't even realized it just got released this week.

Also, for anyone interested, J&R has the Bedtime Stories BD for $23.99, IIRC. Seems like J&R might be trying to get more competitive w/ BD pricing during the initial release week.

So I was an idiot in thinking all seasons of The Simpsons would be next to one another on the shelf. What was I thinking??? They had S10 on a completely different shelf, as advertised....
