Carpet, Vinyl flooring & Soundproofing

Hi,

I'm taking up a lot of vinyl flooring and carpet because its the wrong clour. Before I get rid of it, could it have any uses for soundproofing when I build my games/theatre room?

Thanks

Re: Carpet, Vinyl flooring & Soundproofing

I don't think so. However, when I built my riser in my HT, instead of stuffing it with insulation, I cut the old carpet into 1' long strips and filled the riser with those (75% full). Worked out well and I didn't have to lug the carpet down the stairs and out of the house.
